Game 3 Round 1 San Antonio Spurs VS Utah Jazz, Sat. May 5th @ 8pm MT --Official Game Thread--

hopefully, next game will be the last game for the following guys:

turtle corbin
fatty jefferson
retarded miles
taco bell
squirell harris

get a starting caliber wing that can score and a guard that can pass.

How did you come up with your nick names? I think they are cool. Especially squirrel Harris. I like that.

If we made our foul shots, we would've been in the game. But that isn't why we lost. The "starting" five's defense was horrible. No urgency or passion. When we went to the bench with Favors and Carroll, the d jumped several notches. By the way, Carroll is playing several notches above Howard. WTF, why is Howard even playing? No passion, no urgency. We do need some outside shooting and Burks was hitting, so why take him out? We can't rely on outside shots from Big Al, especially with no one under the basket to rebound. If he goes outside, we need guys to crash the boards, but that just isn't happening and if we don't get the rebound lead to an easy two on the other end.

Al probably has been biggest reason we are getting demolished, though playing Howard is a close second -- Can someone explain why he is playing or is the Jazz coaching staff a bunch of morons? I can't believe Horny and the rest of the assistants are on the same page with Corbin on this. And how they got that three at the buzzer at the end of the first half, was a major coaching mistake in my opinion. You know that the Spurs are setting up in the corners, so you need to cover them and your guards have to stay in front of their man -- a two is better than a wide open three against the Spurs, if it comes to that. Let their talent beat us, not their coach.

we are going nowhere with players like jefferson, harris, howard, cj and bell. especially, if three of those five guys are part of your starting five.

favors
kanter
hayward
harden
rondo

with millsap coming of the bench and playing many minutes at the three and four position. that would be a great team within the next 2-3 years, even if it's a dream.

I don't see it

The best thing about getting schooled by the SPurs is hopefully KOC and Corbin will realize that the Jazz are a LONG way from being serious contenders. Al Jefferson is not the answer. Favors and Kanter need to play a lot next year and Millsap needs to know that he is going to be a bench guy. KOC needs to simplify the playing decisions for Ty if Ty is incapable of deciding who should play. KOC can start this process by getting rid of guys like Bell, CJ, Howard, and even Watson so there will be easier decisions for Ty regarding playing time. KOC also needs to get rid of AJ. His defense is horrible and will never be good enough for championship caliber. KOC needs to find a suitor for Harris, he is not a championship caliber PG.

Then KOC needs to make sure that Ty plays the big four regardless of the production. It is time to actually develop the kids. Hopefully, AJ and/or Harris can bring us a pick and the lottery ball falls our way so we get the GS pick. It is so obvious that the Jazz are light years away from being a true contender.

Perhaps instead of mirroring OKC the Jazz should watch tape of the new SPurs and emulate their offense and play their defense. In order to do this, the Jazz need to get a PG who can create his own shot (penetrating the lane and jump shooting) and then the next step would be to get two guys who can shoot 3 pts and play defense. The last thing is to get another big man (Center). I think a rotation of three big man would be perfect. I am not talking about another 6' 9" but a 6' 11" and up.

Watching how the Spurs move the ball and their spacing was a thing of beauty. Now I know it isn't easy finding the next Duncan, Parker or Manu but it isn't impossible considering that where Parker and Manu were drafted. Hayward and Favors has a long way to go before they become our Duncan and Manu but they could have the potential to be very good. I doubt either will be as good as Duncan and Manu. However, they are two big parts of the puzzle.

Ty should watch the film of this series especially game three and say to the team this is how you play basketball and this is how we are going to start doing things around here. Once upon a time the young Spurs were picked apart by S&M teams and coach Pop used some of what he learned to build his team on. Now it is time for the Jazz to learn from their master, the Spurs. The Spurs have owned us for a long time so perhaps it is time to emulate them. If you can't beat them then join them. I say the Spurs should be the blue print of how the Jazz want to play in the future.

Wouldn't it be great if Ty told the team that the young guys are going to get the start in game 4. Burks, Hayward, Carroll, Favors and Kanter? Yea I know they would get destroyed but still it would be interesting to see if they would play with energy and to see what they could do. It would be hilarious if they led the team to a victory. Anyways, it would be fun either way. I know it would never happen but it would be fun to see it happen.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, let's all overreact. millsap sucks!!!!!!!!! he's a bench player!!!!!!!!! kanter is respectable again because of a decent 10 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We lost this game in the first half when we were down two despite clearly beating them on the court. That three at the buzzer and eight missed free throws is 11 points we let them have. I don't expect us to hit all our free throws there but rather than being down two, we should have been up six or seven and have gone into the locker room with a lot of confidence and momentum. And our "future," Favors and Gordo, two guys I absolutely love mind you, were God awful from the field, a combined 6 of 24 to be exact for 25%.

for me, we should re-sign carroll (at a very, very cheap deal--2 years, 4M), evans (2 years, 3M), and tinsley (2 years, 5M)...they're good fits. and then we should move accordingly, looking to get a 3 who can shoot and defend (rush via fa or crowder via draft), a fourth big man (with the assumption that jefferson will be gone at some point--haddadi? gray? two guys who won't eat up kanter's development. maybe even robin lopez who's restricted?), and if possible, a long-term solution at the point via the draft.

relax everyone. the spurs are a great team. they've been the best team in the entire league over the last three months and it's not even close. we're young, have a ton of room to grow and learn, and some gaps still to fill in.

Agreed on most of that, but Sap has shown he is NOT an all-star, not a number one, not the guy to lead the team deep into the playoffs. He has been a total non-entity. Hardly know he is out there. So, lets put that to rest. Milsap is a nice piece, but not key to the future. Its all about the young 4 and adding pieces around them. Can you say shooters? A bunch of them? Not the usual Jazz system of having one designated 3 point guy, like Korver or memo. Caroll could be a nice piece if he could get good at the spot up 3.

we don't have real leaders on our team and no player that could be considered a star. jefferson has zero impact on the defensive end and can't get his rebounds and slows down the offense. millsap still is undersized at the four position and can't guard bigger and quicker players. harris is way to inconsistent and sometimes can't hit his shots and is not a good distributer at all. those players are rather very good role players, complimentary players, that need the one or the other star to make up for their shortcomings. sometimes they might suprise you, but they won't lead a team on a consistent basis, day in, day out.

kanter, burks, favors and hayward are our future, our cornerstone. we just need a wing that can score and a guard that can distribute the ball. what we have to do is rebuild. i'm okey with losing records for the next two years if this means more minutes and more developement of our young guys. add two solid players from the draft and we will become a solid team after two years. that's the way we have to go! we should get rid of jefferson, harris, bell, cj, howard and even millsap, if he is not ready to accept a role coming off the bench.

One thing that i liked from corbin last night was when he put in a lineup of tinsley, burks, millsap, favors, and kanter. I dont think i had ever seen that lineup before and they played well together and cut into the spurs lead. Only problem was that it was only for a few minutes.

Most of us said the same thing during the lockout. Just get the kids time and we will remain faithful. It didn't happen but we were able to get to the playoffs and have no for sure lottery picks in this draft.

Also, how about those Favors jump shots? Why is he taking those?

I asked myself the same question, but both Millsap and Jefferson do that, so he has some great role models for this. This fact highlights what's wrong with the offense. Ty does not play to our strengths. Kanter has increased his efficiency in the post and so we should use him there more than Favors. We should use Favors on the pick and roll all night long. Instead, we run Favors in the post (he's not quite ready there yet), or use him to make passes at the top of the key where he always has looks because they let him. Bad offense in general, but let's see where we are after a summer league and training camp.

So you say we are overreacting but then you pretty much repeat the same things I said. I never said Millsap sucks but he is slowing up the inevitable which is Favors and Kanter are the Jazz future. We are not overreacting just dealing with reality.

I didn't read your post but to state that Kanter is our future and Millsap is chopped liver is foolish. At best.

I didn't read your post either, but I think you should stop telling us about your crush on Hayward. We're sick of it (or at least we would've been, had we been reading your posts).
