Jazz need to trade for Rondo and sign Harden

SLC is not a hotbed, that is true. I think a max contract and playing with some great up and comers like Favors, Hayward, Burks and Kanter and leading that group could be very tempting.

I just hope that these young guys work hard in the offseason and get the plating time to grow on the court next season.

I guess it all depends on how many teams offer him max contracts. If we are the only team putting that up, then we may have a chance. Considering teams have paid Rudy Gay and Joe Johnson max contracts, I doubt that will be the case.

I agree with you. KOC needs to not play hardball and just put it all on the line. What is the worst that could happen? He signs and OKC matches? If they do they will have well over 50% of their cap space taken up with 3 guys.

I just want KOC first in line. Give the Jazz a chance.

After Harden's playoff performance today, he might just be a max player. I would not even think twice about an offer of 14 million a year for max years.

From a realism standpoint.

I don't think Rondo is attainable. I know there have been a lot of rumors, but I think they are just that, rumors.

Harden isn't coming to Utah. I'm sorry but SLC isn't exactly a hot bed for top FA who may very well be getting max offers from multiple teams.

Which teams? And the other is "it's your opinion" that Boston doesn't want to trade Rondo? Based on? You did say it wasn't possible. Now it sounds like it was more of a loose opinion.

LOL!

Will a Raja Bell and a 2nd rounder do it?

LOL!!!!

What makes ANYONE think that Boston is even interested in shopping Rondo?

Why would OKC not match any offer made to Harden?

Folks, stop thinking through your Jazz goggles and attempt to look at things through your opponents'.

Harden and Rondo aren't going anywhere... Unless their respective teams get Lebron or Dwight in return... It's that simple...

1) OKC already gave huge contracts to Durant and Westbrook
2) OKC also has to worry about Ibaka this year
3) Every team in the league would give Harden a max in a heartbeat if they have cap space.

Harden's not coming to the Jazz, but I dont think he'll be in OKC next year either....unless OKC goes the Miami way

I said it once and I will say it again. Okc will NOT get rid of harden. Are you guys serious? They know how much worse they would be without him

Rondo is talented but he is a head case. He just got suspended for bumping a ref. It is not his first suspension. To say that Rondo is only good because he has great players around him is not entirely true but it certainly helps. It doesn't matter because there is no way the Celtics trade him to the Jazz without the Jazz giving up two of our young guys.

The chance of the Jazz getting Harden is next to zero.

I've got a quarter chub just thinking about a JVG as HC/Rondo combo....pure nastiness with awesome tension between the two to boot. That **** would be entertaining as hell.

Haha, you apparently haven't been made aware of economics and a thing called a salary cap. So they, roughly, pay Harden, Durant and Westbrook $45-50mil (depending on the season and where each is at in their contracts) but then likely have to let Ibaka go in your scenario. That would be the first time I've heard of a team building a "Big 3" and not including a big man in that group. They would then have roughly $8-12 mil (at best) to fill out the rest of the roster (9+ more players need to be signed with that 8-12), which in this scenario wouldn't have included a single center or PF, let alone the 2 or maybe 3 each position would require.

That team is not winning an NBA championship, sorry. But by all means, keep making blanketed and naive statements. You have a home here.

If OKC wants to keep Harden, they can't keep Ibaka. We steal either one of them...Ibaka and Favors would be a nasty athletic frontcourt.

How is Rondo not attainable? Celtics want to rebuild so why would they NOT want expiring contracts (Jefferson, Harris) and a potentially good draft pick in the GS Pick? They could sign big Al to a cheaper contract and get a good player in the draft for LESS money than Rondo.

You idiots fail to realize that there is something called cap space and while Salt Lake isn't the best free agency market, playing with future star youngs and a potentially getting offered a big deal of money is VERY attractive to many players..

Rondo
Harden
Hayward
Favors
Kanter/Free Agent
6th Man: Burks

or

Rondo
Burks
Hayward
Ibaka
Favors

6th Man: Kanter

In 13/14, Durant stands to make 18.7M. Let's assume Westbrook's around 13M then, that Harden gets 12M, and Ibaka 11M. That's 54.7M for four dudes. Perkins, Sefolosha and Collison also stand to make another 14.95M that season which brings their cap number to 69.65M. For seven guys.

Oof. They need to trade Westbrook imo.

The real question for OKC is are they going to be a team with awful bigs (Hasheem Thabeet, Kwame Brown) like Portland was this year?
Or are they going to be a team with no sixth man.
I just don't think Harden's going to get 12M. He's a max contract guy, I think he'll be in the 14-15M range or whatever max is nowadays. So it'll be like 46M for 3 guys.
