Trade Kanter for Faried?

He just needs practice so his instinct is better.

His max vertical is decent.

His speed is decent.

His experience is poor, knowing what to do at the right time is poor.

He has the potential to be a beast.

Faried played a good game in rookie year in playoffs. Thats pretty good, but come on, Daniel Gibson made show in his rookie year against detroit, where is he now?
Tyreke evans made a great impact in his first year, now he seems like he is a good player but not as good as he was hyped in first year.

We cant look at one game or even one year and think he will be better than Kanter or whatever. I didnt see Faried much, but it is nonsense to compare him to Kanter, Kanter has much more upside and potential here. Plus Faried had 4 yrs of college carrier, it is normal that he had a good transition, Kanter didn't play any competitive game for almost 2 years until this summer. Give this kid some credit. It is not easy to grab significant mins behind Favors , Millsap and Big Al , and he had some pretty good performances throughout the season especially when he got higher amount of playing time.

Kanter is not a good back up or energy guy coming off the bench, he must play, that's what he need, he will get better and better if he plays enough.

Im not saying Kanter wont be good. But does anyone think he will be better than Favors? Would anyone here take Kanter over Favors? Probably not, right? So I get the feeling he wont be up to par with elite bigs like Favors. Really good but not elite. So we should all take our fan blinders off and just except that he is going to be just a notch below great. So no it wouldnt be a terrible trade to go after a guy who shows elite skills. Like Faried.

Kanters just missing a spark, he might be worth the pick if he just gets that kick that turns his game to another level of intensity.

So noone notices how slow Kanter is running the floor huh. Name me one slower player in the league. Andrew Bogut would beat him in a baseline to baseline sprint, er jog.

I don't think he is slow, like he runs pretty fast down the field. What I think he does is he doesn't run down far enough and leaves the opposing teams man open. This leads to the illusion that he doesn't run fast because the man he is responsible for gets the easy bucket.

Tonight is the perfect example why it would be stupid to trade Kanter for Faried. Faried is getting pushed around by Gasol and Bynum. Gasol has 17 rebounds right now with 11 of them being offensive. Bynum 18 rebounds right now with 9 being of the offensive variety. I get that he wasn't in the entire game. In fact, 19 minutes. I watched three possessions nearing the end of the game where Gasol and Bynum used their body and or length to either push him around or tip in a ball right over him.

Well it would appear that you are right at this moment. Let me think of something to make up to counter this

George Karl was running his rotations really sporadic tonight. He seemed like he couldnt make up his mind. He kept taking Faried in and out. Faried got off to hot start but seemed like he couldnt find any rythym later when Karl would throw him in for a couple minutes. And you also said it yourself he only played 19 minutes. I admit Faried missed a couple play down at the end there but they were barely missed plays. Not to mention Gasol and Bynum abuse everyone. Faried is a rookie and he has been giving them fits all series long.

This doesnt decide he cant play. Check back with me in 3 years.

Bynum and Gasol were abusing McGee on the offensive boards down there at the end too. So it wasnt so much a Faried thing. Bynum and Gasol have perfected the offensive tip in

I don't recall saying he can't play. I recall if anything calling him a poor man's Millsap(which is somewhat of a compliment). The point remains that a starting lineup of Enes Kanter and Derrick Favors has a much better chance at succeeding against a team like the Lakers. Nobody is of course saying that Kanter is automatically going to be a great player at some point. There are some good signs and some things he obviously needs to work on. I think we are seeing Faried close to his ceiling. I won't say the same for Kanter. Also, Kanter will be Faried's current age in 3 years will he not?

Well...... I guess you all win.

Kanter for Faried might have been a bit of a stretch. Time will tell. Id still take him over Jefferson though.

Im also a big fan of KOC and the win now approach so I was thinking we could field a more ready team.

But just to be clear. Do you think Kanter would have done any better against Bynum and Gasol tonight or this whole series? I dont. I think Kanter would have got worked.

I agree. Tonight he could have gotten worked. It's tough to say. He did have a good game against Bynum. That doesn't mean he was going to outplay him tonight. We have to remember that Bynum was also once 19 and by the same standards not all that great to begin with. Kanter is going to need time and experience just as Bynum did. By no means do I think he will become as good as Bynum. I still think he can be a solid player. As for Al, I think we are all in the same boat as far as wanting to deal him. I am just hoping we get something.

You serious? Pau had like 8 rebounds on that one offensive possession where he got a touch on the ball for what seemed like a whole minute and then finally converted.

I am dead serious. It also wasn't just one possession. I easily saw 3 late in the game where Faried was outmatched by either Gasol or Bynum. Not saying those guys don't do that a lot. They do. My whole point is that giving up on a 19 year old Kanter in favor of a 22 year old Faried(who is IMO close to his ceiling) would be foolish.

It was only the end there where Faried didnt look good. He played well in the beginning. LikI said, I cant figure out was Karl was doing. He only played Faried in short stints.

Faried is still good. But I never said I would take him over Favors. He is going to end up in the range of pretty good power forward. But thats only because of his size. If he had 5 more inches he would be Dwight Howard. He reminds me of a mini Dwight Howard. He is fun to watch. I would take him on our team. He helps you win.

Kanter was drafted as a project big man. You don't give up on that after one season in which he showed plenty of potential. Yes, he has his flaws, but he also has some strengths that are rather impressive. He is strong enough to come in and flat out bully pretty much everybody on the glass, and he has very good instinct for finding the ball. He's never going to be the athletic freak that Favors is, but he doesn't need to be in order to still be a very good player. Kanter is going straight up wear people out and frustrate the hell out of them physically. I like Faried fine, but we already have him. He just spells his name Paul Millsap.

I'm rather grateful that some teams lose patience and give up too soon on young big men. Without that, we would have never been able to acquire Favors. A player, who is still being predicted by some NBA fans to be a bust. IMO, Utah already hurt their rebuild by not having patience with this season. No need to compound that by panicking and giving up on a high draft pick, who was drafted as a project in the first freakin' place.

I agree on not trading Kanter. I made the thread to point out I think Faried is really good. I want to see what Kanter can do too

kanter's go to move is up and under. corbin forces him to play physical (which is great) but he can also shoot from 15-17 feet.
faried's go to move is putback dunks (shame on him for that miss yesterday) and open layups set up by andre miller...

even steve kerr said that he could only dunk in offense until this year...

Well, it would be insanely stupid to dunk on defense.
