Following potential 2012 draftees

So let's say the Jazz end up with the GS pick because fate dealt them a deserved cruel hand and the Jazz land #8. And on top of that, deal Jefferson to NOH for #10, what can you turn those two picks into?

If we land the 8th pick, I wouldn't be surprised if we trade it or the 10th pick along with the Memo trade exception for a legitimate starter. I don't know who we would get, but it could definitely get you a good player.

doesn't that player's salary need to be less than the Memo TPE? The kind of player that is worth that trade + makes that salary should be fairly short. You should generate a list (I'm being serious).

Just remember that it could also include ANY player still on a rookie contract which would lengthen the list considerably.

Maybe something like

8+TPE for Jrue Holiday and Sixers first round pick.

I'm gonna go ahead and go all in on Orlando Johnson from UCSB. I love the way he plays and he's got a freakish wingspan, along with very good athleticism. He's gonna be a player.

I think Corbin's son plays on UCSB, so Corbin should be slightly familiar with him.

I recognize this, but I still say this list is small. Teams don't often part ways with productive players on their rookie contracts... especially for a draft pick.

So, yeah, you could grow a long list, but the players worth those assets who are actually attainable is very short.

Yeah, I would have to look. I just don't think the Jazz are completely interested in taking on two more rookies, though I may be wrong if there are guys they like enough.

For some reason Trevor Ariza popped in my mind, but that wouldn't make sense if we traded to get a pick from NOLA then sent it right back to get Ariza. Would it? I like that Ariza can guard any wing, but I'm probably still just picturing that amazing playoffs he had with the Lakers that he hasn't gotten close to sense.

the only scenario in which I'd be interested in Ariza is for the TPE plain-and-simple. I can't see that happening since NOH isn't in a financial bind.

and, for the record, I don't like Ariza. But, we don't have SFs....

Tyreke Evans?

Ha, that would be the ultimate gamble. If he could shoot at all I would probably do it. The guy is a 6'6 Lebron James if he wants to be.

He absolutely shredded us with his dribble penetration every time we played the Kings, so maybe we do it because the Jazz love players who do well against them.

Really interesting proposal though that I could definitely see the Kings doing. They just have too much to deal with having both Cousins and Evans.

His lack of shooting just really deflates any interest I would have in him.

I'd love Holiday, but we'd have to sweeten the pot here.

No ****ing thanks. Too early. He won't get it for another four years or so and I'd guess his third go 'round. I don't wanna be his second.

Another negative is that this upcoming year is his contract year. He could very well do amazing this year, then we be forced to make a decision on paying him, then he could go back to being his old self.

It would be a home-run swing type move, and maybe one I would feel more comfortable with if we still had someone like Sloan, but with a young coach like Corbin I think it's best to keep guys like Evans off the team.
