What I like best about this thread is the irony how Hotttnickk gives grief to green for not getting over Deron and how unrealistic it is that he would come back, but then makes this thread.

Ha. Ha. Ha

Difference is I don't have a strong feeling about Sloan either way. I just wanted to gauge JazzFanz's feeling about it.

For the record, IMO there is 0% chance of Sloan coming back here given what took place last season.

Green on the other hand is so excited about DWill coming back - he's 'this close' to kidnapping DWill's wife & kids and force him to sign with Utah next season.

How close? Its text. I couldnt see what you are doing. Did you make one of 'these' with your fingers?

No.

Sloan was a good coach and I wish him the best but that ship has sailed on both sides.

....your choices were much to limited. Don't want Sloan back....but don't want Corbin, either! WHat happened to the sign Stan Van Gundy option???

I tried to be realistic. Van Gundy is available NOW. With Portland, Charlotte, etc without a coach - I'm sure he'll find a new job pretty quickly.

We're stuck with Corbin for at least 1 more year. So I don't think that was a realistic choice.

YOu aren't BEINg rEalistic. Corbin ISnt GOing anyWhere.

I have a feel ing he will be the coach for a long time.

OVer UNDer 20 Years?

Any team hiring Jerry is making a mistake. The game has passed him by. We lived through 5 years of that realization (at least). His legacy can't be taken from him and he was once one of the great coaches, but those days are over. He belongs to a different era and he'll fail. No need to sugarcoat it.

Define fail. If he goes to the Bobcats (assuming they get Davis), what would be considered failure, what would be considered success?

I agree with bill. This thing will be a failure. Coach will win some games with whoever but I cant see it ending well in any kind of national spot light. People will start to see all his flaws like Boozer's

If he goes to bobcats, they had better hope they get Davis, cuz if not, that will be a huge dumpster fire.

Any place with stars like Orlando and New York he would make the playoffs, but would fail in the playoffs, and I like I said before he will be torched by the media.

He needs to just walk off into the sunset on that sweet note of quiting.

Uhh. Sloan has been coaching a lot longer than Popovich, and Popovich has destroyed Sloan for most of that time.

I'm not in love with Ty, but at least I can hold a fringe belief that he'll improve, instead of get a little worse every year.

Well he did very well with the team that had just lost John and Karl.

I love Sloan. He is part of the Utah Jazz family forever. So as a concerned member of the family, I would not advise he do it.

Sloan was a good coach, and helped usher the franchise into the future, but he did have some flaws, and he was getting worse. And by worse I mean senile. The guy has a hard time putting two sentences together in interviews. You can tell his mind is slipping. Not only that, his style was never perfect.

He is better off being remembered as a HOF. Not some senile man out there bumbling around.

What would be the point of Sloan mentoring a young team like the Bobcats? The best argument is he'll change their culture (while he doesn't win.) Jerry has a lot to offer as far as team basketball principles and the strength of character to get players in line.

But Jerry hasn't coached actual defense in 2 decades. His flex offense is a relic to anyone but us. And he won't be around long enough to see a team like the Bobcats actually do something. What exactly does he have to offer?
