IF Jerry goes to Charlotte, could this get us a better draft pick?

As Jerry tends to prefer players he's already familiar with, I would think this could establish a new East-West trade route...
Not likely he'd give up their #2 in round 1, but they also have the top pick in round 2, which could realistically be used to get Miles and Bell, or more, for instance.
Thoughts?

If Jerry coaches I don't think he will become the GM too. I would love the Charlotte pick in the second round but why would the Bobcats trade that pick to us? CJ is a free agent so we would have to do a sign and trade. Do the Bobcats want to bring back Raja? I doubt it. He was injured when he was with the Bobcats. I don't see any other Jazz player that I would want to trade for a second round pick. Earl Watson or Tinsley but the Bobcats already have two short PGs.

Unless you are going to do a bigger trade like Millsap or AJ I don't really see how we get it. I guess we could trade the TPE exception but I would want more than a second round pick.

You think because if Jerry Sloan coaches the Charlotte Bobcats, we can trade players that are useless for a top 3 darft pick?

You're senile, here... here's some Clonopins.

Not too long ago, Sloan proudly stated he'd never used a computer in his life.

In this day and age, it's difficult to vision how an NBA Head Coach could function without a computer - it's unfathomable as to how an NBA GM could fuction without using a computer.

Not the way I want to remember Jerry:

Chris Tomasson
I just caught up with Jerry Sloan. Regarding the Charlotte job and the Bobcats not winning the draft lottery, he said he didn't feel it was right to talk about that. He said he hasn’t had any contact from any NBA teams other than Charlotte, where he interviewed for the head position last Friday. But he said he hasn’t heard anything from the Bobcats since his interview. “I’m just waiting,’’ said Sloan, 70, who is looking to get back into coaching after having resigned in February 2011 from Utah.

Not surprising Jerry hasn't heard from them; the Bobcats brass are still interviewing other candidates. I understand the Ewing comment was made only because he and MJ are good friends.
Preceding the lottery drawing, Cho's description of what they wanted in a coach sounded exactly like Jerry's resume. I do believe he's got a very good chance, despite his age.

If they want Kemba to turn into an actual PG and Thomas Robinson to turn into an All-Star PF (I think Sloan could easily do that), I think Sloan is a no-brainer.

Sloan would do wonders with a guy like Gerald Henderson. Plays great perimeter defense, excellent mid-range shot and very athletic. He's a Jerry Sloan player if I've ever seen one.

Jerry will be fine either way; Orlando, having just dumped Stan Van Gundy, seems unlikely to give old-school Jerry a call. Not many other spots available.

If Sloan were 10 years younger I think he'd make an amazing college coach - I'm not sure how he'd do as a recruiter (probably not well) but I could see him taking a mid-level program and turning them into major over-achievers

I think that's a key. Kids these days want a player's first program and not a grump yelling at them (the grump thing was from a kid's perception, not my own). Therefore you're right, he'd probably do best at a bit smaller school with less star talent and getting them to work their butts off to do something special.

Interesting; seems MJ interviewed Sloan personally in Utah; didn't know that.

May help his cause, may not...
I expect if Sloan gets the gig, he'd have input as to players he was familiar with and liked.
Charlotee might trade their 2ND round pick (#31 overall,I believe) to get someone like CJ. They could even come up with a deal to swap 2ND rounders with Utah and ship a player to Charlotte. Many possibilities...

Why would Charlotte trade anything to get CJ when he is a FA? Can Jordan be that dumb?

Probably KoC would like to get something in return for losing CJ, so he just might take the trouble to try and do a Sign and Trade....
