Jamal Tinsley Option

Steve Luhm: GM Kevin O'Connor says Jazz have until June 30 to exercise $1.35 million option on Jamaal Tinsley and won't do anything before then ...

So with Harris (8.5 Mil) and Watson (2 Mil) both under contract for one more year, will the jazz excercise the option on Tinsley for 1.35?

They should. He's probably been the best 3rd PG the Jazz have ever had, other than maybe Jacque Vaughn.

I loved Tinsley. I would have absolutely no complaints. Great bench guy, amazing role model, and good old-school bench PG.

If we pick up another PG, I'd rather trade Watson.

In the Deron era I would have loved having either Watson or Tinsley as the backup pg. It sucks that we have both as our "2nd" pg, imho I like Tinsley better than Watson, but I would hate to see either go.

Really hoping Tinsley comes back. Was a solid back up, and had some fun showtime moments. Who can forget the between the legs play.

Maybe this guy instead?

The Los Angeles Lakers have recalled guard Darius Morris from the Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA Development League, it was announced today by General Manager Mitch Kupchak.

Morris was assigned to the D-Fenders on March 7th and played in one game with the team, helping defeat the Dakota Wizards 99-98 on March 10th. In 28 minutes, Morris totaled a team-high 21 points on 7-of-16 shooting, a rebound, four assists and a steal.

Morris was the third Lakers’ player assignment of the season for the D-Fenders, who at 30-11, currently own the best record in the D-League.

A rookie out of Michigan, Morris has appeared in 13 games for the Lakers this season, averaging 2.7 points and 1.1 assists in 10.3 minutes.

1.35 is the minimum for Tinsley right? So if they just don't pick up his option, can they sign him for less? or not sign him at all? Picking up the option only guarantees he would be on the Jazz next year and that nobody else would have a shot at him?
