KOC Making The Rules

Make the in game rules with the exceptions of shot clock, game clock and 3 pt line exactly like the NCAA and make sure the officials call the play rather than the player or situation. Pay/train officials a lot better and police them more honestly. Create a mandatory retirement/healthcare fund for players after the NBA funded mostly by player's salaries. Say 5% could probably set these guys up for a long time.

I think that would generate a whole lot more interest from people like my FIL who coached high school for 30 years or so but doesn't give a damn for the NBA. Travels and carries ruin the integrity of the game in favor of creating extra advantages for the ultra-athletic. Also a lot of players are just to immature to understand they won't be able to afford 5 Bentleys their whole lives and not having to worry about health care is a huge advantage to anyone.

I hate that idea. While they should offer it it should not be mandatory. If an individual wants to be an idiot and blow all his money and not set himself up for the future while they are riding that gravy train than that is on them. I strongly disagree with having to babysit people.

When you were 19 did you consider investing for retirement? I considered investing in PBR for the evening. A lot of these guys don't come from families that know anything about retirement plans or anything else that has to do with having money, because they never had any. Hard to make good decisions when you don't know who to listen to. Probably every player has all kinds of financial "opportunities" piled at his door, often by family and friends.

I'm sure there are plenty of ex players that wish they had something like this.

1.No time-outs for a player who is under duress. Guys get trapped and just get to stop the game to get bailed out? WTF?

2. Player falls on ground with ball: refs stop game right then, ball on a side-out. No jumping on a guy down on the ground like a pack of wolves on a fallen caribou.

3. NO MORE STAR TREATMENT!!!!!! The NFL calls 'em pretty even, and I think that franchise is fairly successful.

I can easily see players using rule #2 to evade rule #1. Infact it kind of contradicts rule #1. Them falling down and players trying to take the ball away from them is a pressure situation.
