Draft Day Trade Utah/Dallas/Nola

1st- Arrange with Dallas the trade of our TPE to pick up Odom and the #17 pick. I think it is even possible that Cuban pitches in the $2.4 million to help us pay his buyout.

2nd- Arrange with NOLA to take on Ariza's contract and #10 while swapping with them the to be acquired #17 pick. If we can swing Sending Bell in the trade all the better. Because I think we have to renounce the rights to Carrol and Tinsley (although resigning them for minimum deals would be relatively easy) but by renouncing their rights we have the ability to take on the Ariza contract without trading Bell.

3rd- Draft Lillard who I think will slip to #10

Why for Dallas: They save $4M of precious cap space to pick up Deron Williams and another player.
Why for Nola: They clear capspace which seems to be one of their efforts before they resign Eric Gordon
Why for Utah: The Jazz potentially get a top #10 pick by taking on one key SF contract... a player who will actually help us greatly over the next two years without taking up our longterm capspace when we reup Favors and Hayward and we fill our two positions of need: PG and SF!

I don't think Dallas does it. Why would Dallas give us the 2.4 mil to cut him AND give us the 17th? I'm unsure if 2.4 mil of salary is necessary to offer a max deal. Dallas would keep the pick and just cut Odom. Seems like a better plan.

I like this...

Im all for taking on some bad contracts for the next couple years for picks. I dont expect this team to be contenders right away. I think we can worry about a big free agent after we see what we have in the 4orce. I think some picks could be much more useful to us.

Me and freakazoid are together on this. And Numberica.

Two words, cap hold.

If Dallas renounces it's rights to Odom then he doesn't count against the cap. So there's little incentive to do this with Odom from Dallas perspective.

This is a classic NBA Live '95 Double-Trade Up. It never happens and requires a phenomenally poor AI to pull it off.
