So the idea was to give bad people guns in order to see where the weapons would be dispersed in order to hunt down drug cartels?
And now we wonder in amazement when innocent people are being slaughtered?
Wow....
Who are the idiots who come up with these ideas? Ah, the article states that this program was developed under Bush. Makes sense now.
Couldn't we have given them some good ol American chocolate or something less hazardous? Maybe ice cream with bacon to try and track them down? Why guns?
Would we give a terrorist a nuke in order to see where he'd take it to track down his larger terrorist group? Idiotic, right? So why did we give these folks guns? Is it because we didn't really value the innocent (Mexican) lives that would soon be shot all to hell?
Yet another mark against the worst President in our history.

Mr. Obama’s last-minute move to extend the umbrella of executive privilege raises the question of whether the president or his staff had extensive prior knowledge of the operation, because this privilege can only be invoked when the chief executive’s office is involved. Until now, everyone believed that the decisions regarding Fast and Furious were confined to the Department of Justice. The White House decision to invoke executive privilege implies that White House officials were either involved in the Fast and Furious operation or the cover-up that followed.
I see you're parroting the Obama administration's talking points. When under fire, blame Bush.
Answer this. If it was such a horrid program why didn't Obama put an end to it? Why are he and Holder obstructing the investigation into the program?

Of course.
It's always easier to blame the guy who inherited the mess than to ever hold the guy who started the damn thing accountable.
Wars? It's Obama's fault. Economy a mess? Obama. Debt? Obama. Health care a mess? Obama. etc etc etc. When are repubs EVER going to take responsibility for ANYTHING??? It's like those 8 years between Clinton and Obama were just erased from all memory. Further proof that conservatism is a mental disease I think.
Here's the deal, the program started in 06. The firearms were dispersed. Even had Obama eliminated the program in 08-09, how many firearms had already been distributed? What could then be done to stop the coming murders?
I don't agree w/Obama impeding the investigation. And the man probably should have taken apart this program. Yet, he had enough crap to deal with. And I doubt the repubs would have allowed him to take it a part anyway. They seem to say no to everything. Oh, and it's hilarious to watch the ants scatter from Rubio's/Obama's proposal about immigration now that Obama hijacked that idea. Just like the individual mandate. It used to be fine and constitutional. But the very second a black Democrat suggests it, all of a sudden it's evil, unconstitutional, and needs to be defeated. Lets just "forget" that folks like the Heritage Foundation and orrin Hatch campaigned for the individual mandate in the 90s.... Now these folks are 100 % against it. Hilarious! Running away like ants being crushed by the boot.
I do however have a problem with repubs merely shirking their responsibility for the creation of this abortion.
Again, another mark against thee worst President in our history. Ineffective tax cuts, ridiculous wars, unfunded medical spending (Medicare part D), and the list goes on and on and on and on and on.....
And yet, these folks really think they have a chance at power come November? Is America really dumb enough to give them the keys to the car after they just barely drove it off a cliff?
Can't wait for November. The repubs are either going to be humiliated (again) in defeat. Or they'll regain power and force us into another terrible 4 years with their disastrous policies. Maybe after we invade Iran, intervene in Syria, and take over Egypt, destroy the middle-class, and have our economic system fall apart (again) Americans will realize how bad republican policy has been for the past 30 years.
If it was such a horrid program why didn't Obama put an end to it? Why are he and Holder obstructing the investigation into the program?
This has been completely consistent with other Obama decisions to not hold individuals in the Bush White House accountable for thier actions.
So at what point does one start to own their own actions? Only when things go well?

I've done a little more digging into this operation. While under Bush, the ATF did put a similar operation into place but it differed from what has transpired under the current administration.
"Bush's" operation was called Wide Receiver. It used the common tactic of “controlled delivery,” whereby ATF agents would allow an illegal transaction to take place, closely follow the movements of the arms, and then descend on the culprits apprehending them as well as seizing the weapons.
But Fast and Furious, which was implemented in 2009, is different because it has utilized “uncontrolled deliveries,” whereby the criminals were essentially allowed to drop off the map. Perhaps more importantly, Wide Receiver was conducted with the cooperation of the Mexican government. Fast and Furious was not. Fast and Furious has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of Mexican citizens as well as an ATF agent.
So Thriller, how much of this is still Bush's fault? At what point does "credit" for this cluster **** fall into the proper lap?
At the time, under the Bush administration Department of Justice (DOJ), no arrests or indictments were made. After President Barack Obama took office in 2009, the DOJ reviewed Wide Receiver in September 2009 and found that guns had been allowed into the hands of suspected gun traffickers. Indictments began in 2010, over three years after Wide Receiver concluded. As of October 4, 2011, nine people had been charged with making false statements in acquisition of firearms and illicit transfer, shipment or delivery of firearms. As of November, charges against one defendant had been dropped; five of them had pled guilty, and one had been sentenced to one year and one day in prison. Two of them remained fugitives.
Clearly, this is nothing more than a springboard for the eradication of the 2nd Amendment.
This article specifies that se3veral agents have been disciplined int he wake of Fast and Furious. That's appropriate.
