Twitter feeds leading up to the draft

This is for everyone out there who isn't in the twitter loop and/or doesnt feel like reading through the 100 bazillion posts in the other threads. I figure it'll be an easy way to post numerous rumblings in the jazz rumor mill, and seeing as how Brian T. Smith, among others, are tweeting like crazy right now, it seems as good a time as any to bring it to the front.

----Brian Smith's input----

Brian T. Smith ‏@tribjazz
Jazz hope to hold at least two more ‪#NBA‬ Draft workouts in SLC before June 28. Planning to get in bigger names, better talent.

Brian T. Smith ‏@tribjazz
Still, Jazz feel good about situation 10 days before draft. Majority of their pre-draft homework is already done.

Brian T. Smith ‏@tribjazz
Jazz clearly need a young PG for the future. But organization's open to idea of sticking with Devin Harris for one more year. He knows ... Utah's system, showed improvement during second half and is entering a contract year. Jazz fear they could take a step back if they ... deal Harris and don't have a true immediate replacement, since 2012 ‪#NBA‬ Draft is very light at PG.

Brian T. Smith ‏@tribjazz
As always, Jazz have done their homework and are prepared to move up in 2012 ‪#NBA‬ Draft if there's a deal to be made. Millsap, Harris ... continue to be Utah's most tradeable assets. Jazz have a big decision to make with possible Millsap extension and his long-term future.

@tribjazz Why do you feel that Jefferson is not among the most tradeable assets? Because of his contract? or lack of interest in his skills?

---------Brian T. Smith ‏@tribjazz
---------He is. But Kanter's not ready. Would have to get a true 5 back in return. Harder to do. Favors is ready
---------Jefferson's tradeable. But Kanter's not ready to start. Jazz could take a step back at wrong time.

Brian T. Smith ‏@tribjazz
‪#UtahJazz‬ have long been interested in Weber State's Damian Lillard and nothing has changed that during recent weeks. Whether Jazz make ... a move to try and acquire Lillard via draft all depends on where he falls on selection night and what trade packages are available.

Brian T. Smith ‏@tribjazz
Everything from Lillard's overall talent and ability to hit outside shots to his work ethic and personal drive have impressed Jazz.

Brian T. Smith ‏@tribjazz
Whether Lillard's taken before No. 8 will likely impact any attempt made by Jazz to move up in first round of ‪#NBA‬ draft and select him.

Brian T. Smith ‏@tribjazz
‪#UtahJazz‬ will workout Dee Bost, JaMychal Green, Scoop Jardine, Darius Johnson-Odom, Scott Machado and John Shurna on Friday.

Jazz GM Kevin O'Connor on trading into the first round of the draft: "Just because we're quiet doesn't mean we're not working. ...

Brian T. Smith ‏@tribjazz
More O'Connor: "... We're talking to a lot of people about a lot of things."

Brian T. Smith ‏@tribjazz
The Jazz will decide on DeMarre Carroll very soon, as well as Jamaal Tinsely - https://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/blogsja

Steve Luhm ‏@sluhm
Jazz work out 6 players Friday, although Syracuse G Scoop Jardine did not participate because of injury.

Steve Luhm ‏@sluhm
Among the six were four point guards, including Iona's Scott Machado. He had 15 points, 10 rebounds in loss to BYU in NCAA tournament.

Steve Luhm ‏@sluhm
Machado said this is his 17th workout. If Iona had beaten BYU and gone farther in the tournament, his draft range might be smaller.

Steve Luhm ‏@sluhm
Of the 12 players they have worked out, 6 are point guards, 4 are forwards, 2 are shooting guards. Another workout Saturday. Names TBA.

Interesting the Warriors #7 pick is being talked about as being outside the good players and impact players. Lot of effort to get it by GSW

That says a lot actually - that KOC is getting a little bit desperate in acquiring a future PG.

It's actually not a great position to be in. Once teams know we are desperate for something - the asking price goes wayyyy high.

So unless we can actually snag a PG off the free agent market at the end of next year, I can see us overpaying a bit to get a PG that we actually like.

@tkcubed (hotttknickkk)

It's no fault of KOC's .. how many true PG's are out there? How many are better than Harris?

That position is a true need for us and is drying up .. he's doing the right thing to correct it before it's too late. I believe he will. The price for PG's will be high for everyone .. what KOC has done RIGHT is position this team to be good enough to attract a great PG to finish the puzzle .. more on this in the coming days.

:) do you know something we don't? (again)

I hate your riddles. Just come out and say it!

I'd rather he doesn't say it and it actually happens.

Better than making it public, and somehow gives those other teams cold feet.

(I wonder if those other teams actually peruse Jazzfanzz? "OH look - those jazz fans like the trade - we must be getting F***ed!!! Let's call KOC to cancel the deal!!!")

NBA GM tells me he thinks Blazers take Lillard at No. 6, & wouldn't chance trying to get him at No. 11

hearing anything about Jazz trading/buying into 1st round? What range? Is Sacto's No. 5 available?

Another interesting spot in the draft will be Portland at 6. Sources have told us they like Damian Lillard but also like Andre Drummond

^^ last sentence .. I'm hearing Drummond.

Marshall + Drummond > Lillard + Zeller/Henson/Leonard

*Sigh*

Side note: How can Portland reload so quickly without actually having a GM??!! I don't get it. That could have been us!!! They traded 2 months of Wallace for #6 - we could have done that.

Drummond
Aldridge
Batum
Matthews
Marshall

.. boy that's a scary team in a couple of years..

Workout update from lottery #NBADraft prospect, Duke's Austin Rivers: he has now worked out for NO (Nos. 1 and 10), Toronto (No. 8), & Washington (No. 3) and will work out in Portland (No. 6 & No. 11) on Wednesday.

MICHAEL KIDD-GILCHRIST says the WIZARDS will be a PLAYOFF TEAM if they draft him!

Drummond
Aldridge
Batum
Matthews
Marshall

.. boy that's a scary team in a couple of years..

That could be a scary team. That is based off of the assumption hat Drummond reaches his potential and that Marshall is able to translate his game to the speed and athleticism of the NBA.

Kanter
Favors
Hayward
Burks
Magette

Sounds just as scary if not better.

Hmmm.. it's a toss up. Portland has the experience right now with Aldridge, Batum and Matthews.

Jazz has the 'potential' to be better but that's the thing about 'potential'....

My point is they seem to have done it on the fly even without an actual 'GM' which is pretty remarkable.

In the case of Portland, having a GM has sometimes been counterproductive ...

We could have a discussion someday about organizational culture and values, and how the Jazz culture reflects the personality of the owner and the nature of his business holdings.

Portland takes more risks, acts quickly, not afraid to move on. Jazz are conservative, deliberate, and loyal.

Scott Howard-Cooper: Lithuania 63, Britain 61 in Houston. Valanciunas 12 points, 8 rebs, 3 blocks, 17 minutes. Freeland 10 points, 3 rebs, 5 fouls, 20 mins. I heart Jonas.

Royce Young: Report: Deron Williams will choose between Nets or Mavs, no one else https://cbsprt.co/MgsGQb

Sam Amico: As for Lakers, I honestly think it's a matter of time before they somehow get a first-round pick. Probably somewhere in 25-30 range. about 6 minutes ago

Sam Amico: As for NBA draft, I do believe Cavs trying to trade up for Bobcats' No. 2 pick. But I'd be pretty doggone surprised if it actually happens.

The comments that bother me include how the Jazz don't want to trade AJ or Harris because they don't want to take a step back. Why not? Look there is no way the Jazz are going to beat the Spurs or OKC in the West. I have my doubts they can beat Dallas or LA in a seven game series. There is no way they can beat Miami either. So why not take a small step back and trade either Harris or AJ if they think they are not going to re-sign them.

Even if Kanter isn't ready, play him and let him learn and get better. Playing him another 12 minutes a game isn't going to make him any more ready. Most young players are not completely ready but they have to play and learn from their mistakes. I swear if the Jazz drafted Westbrook or Ibaka they would be sitting on the bench.

If the Jazz had taken a step back this year they might be drafting in the lottery and getting another piece to a championship team. I hope KOC pulls something out of his hat but I also want him to stop putting band-aids on the roster. Play the players who you hope are going to be the foundation of your model of a championship team.
