Jefferson or Millsap for 5th pick and Garcia?

Given that Deron had tainted the locker room and the team, I don't think that trading him was overly aggressive. Who knows how hard he had to work to negotiate such a nice combination in return.

And the notion of trading for value, Carmelo-style, makes the trade more of intelligence than aggressiveness.
never said it was overly aggressive. It was not overly conservative either. It was a smart decision by the GM and he got a great package for it. I would much rather have a GM that makes smart decisions (like KOC) than one who is overly aggressive or overly conservative. Guess that is just not in the line of thinking for Bluesy.

Exactly.

Billy King offered up the house because he is an idiot. That trade never should have happened. I wonder how everyone would have felt about everything if there wasnt dumb Bking out there.

Given the circumstances, making the trade was an easy decision.I dont hate the trade. I think he made the right move. I just dont like how he handled everything leading up to it. And I worry he is going to do the same thing here, and we will come up short again.

I dont hate KOC, I just think we could do better. And maybe it isnt all him. Maybe it is part ownership, but I choose to blame him.

This is the first post I read after waking up. If you think we could do better, with who? Who could we do better with than KOC? And I don't want to hear the likes of Presti who we're not prying away from OKC. Who is out there that is realistically attainable and better than KOC? Because I can't think of anyone.

The thing is that howard + dwill is still not that great a team. You can call me out if I'm wrong, but I don't see that team as a true title contender. They would get bent over by both Miami and OKC.

I strongly disagree......

Dwill + DHoward + good fillers = title contenders.

I know alot of you hate DHoward like you do Dwill, but dont be stupid.

DHoward is one of only two people in the league( the other, lebron) that you could drop on any team and they are automatically a playoff team. If Miami had Dwight instead of Bosh. It would be over for everybody in the league. They still won without him but it wasnt easy. If they had D12, they would sweep everybody. Probably go undeafeated.

Dwight Howards impact on the floor is enormous. Him + Dwill would be sick. I would root for them and they would give Miami all they could handle.

Also I seen in general NBA i never responded to the Dwight vs Garnett discussion.

Dwight > KG easily. Its not even close. KG never had the impact Dwight has.

I'm not saying it out of hate, just trying to look at things objectively. Dwill seems to have fallen off a bit since going to NJ. Dwight would be a big get and I do think it's obviously their best move. I just think that in the end it's still a team that's going to fall short. Especially against OKC, they match up very very poorly.

I doubt any team assembled in 1 offseason could come in ready to beat the Heat in a playoff series or even finish ahead of a healthy Bulls team in the regular season - but you can't tell me a team with DWill/Howard on it won't be a strong #3-seed in the East and a tough out in the playoffs. We already saw with Miami against Indiana and Boston, in the playoffs when you have the 2 best players on the floor, it doesn't really matter if the opponent is stronger 3-through-7.
If I'm the Nets or virtually any other team and had to choose between filling in around a DWill/Howard combo or starting with a completely blank canvas, it's a no-brainer for me.

I do like Presti, however I need to get something out. If Presti does not luck into Durant, where are the Thunder right now? Westbrook, Harden, Ibaka and Odom would be a solid team and probably a playoff team. If Portland lands Durant and OKC gets Odom, Presti looks smart but KOC would easily be looked at as an equal to him.

Who is Odom

I dont know if there is better, like you dont know. I just dont like what we see.

Yeah, we should hate him for helping us in getting Favors, Hayward, Kanter, Burks and Golden State's 1st next year, as well as Jefferson and Harris who are assets whether we like them or not.

How is Jefferson an asset if we cant move him, he hurts the team, and we paid 3 firsts for him? Thats an asset like owning a home mortgage is an asset.

Take away him trading Dwill away, and what do we have? His best move was trading up to get Dwill. Not much after that.

So he traded up to get DWill. He traded him at the perfect time for major assets/talent. It's hard to knock the Hayward pick. Hard to knock the Burks pick. Harris is no worse than an average starting PG. Jefferson is still a 20/10 (even if we all think he sux).

I think KOC's body of work (especially, post Jerry) speaks more to the good than bad .. and ceratinly is not atrocious or anything you seem to be making it out to be.

Uh, when did we trade three 1sts for Jefferson? I must have missed that trade.

Koufus was a first. But if you want to get technical about it, then we traded two firsts, Koufus, Boozer, and a second round pick. Thats what we paid. Great deal.

I like KOC making draft selections most of the time. I just dont like some other things he does. Like I said, pretty good GM. Just not the one I want.

@BR - why are you being so mean to Wes? Can't we all just get along and respect each other's opinions. I know I, for one, would find that a welcome change.

At least consider it, would ya?

Tell me why he went after Al right after we just went through the Boozer era? Another 20/10 guy who is overpaid and lazy. He didnt even learn his lesson. Its not like Jefferson was an unknown commodity. There is a reason Kahn the idiot shipped him off.

Geez, I honestly forgot we gave up that much to get Big Al. Not counting Boozer though.

How am I being mean. Have I called him any names? See, this is how things get twisted.
