What's new

Twitter feeds leading up to the draft

I'm already preparing myself for the mandatory:

"These expiring contracts will have much more value at the trade deadline"
"We had many conversations, but nothing that made our team better"
"Other teams made us offers, but we are not going to take 10 cents on the dollar for our players" &
"We like our team, we were an 8 seed with a bunch of young players, we expect to grow from within"

I was looking for that.. and sure enough you've included it.

LOL

Rep'd.

nba.com, the Rocket's team site, shamsports, and hoopshype all list Budinger as a small forward.

Because Houston played him there because they had Kevin Martin and Courtney Lee.

Tim Duncan was listed as a PF because he started his career with David Robinson.

Because the Jazz don't have any good wing players they are willing to depart with. Budinger fits what the Wolves wants, an athletic shooter who can run with Rubio.

So why couldn't the Jazz get a higher pick by trading AJ. He is better than Budinger and teams need size and rebounding too.

He is. Have you seen him play?

Best Case: Martell Webster (SG)
Worst Case: Morris Almond (SG)

His game is perimeter and transition oriented. He doesn't play physically or anything of that nature. He is a SG with size.

What about defensively? Is there a single starting shooting guard that Budinger would be able to guard in this league? That's why he always plays SF. The guy cannot guard a Gatorade bottle.

Who wants Al Jefferson?
Is that team who wants a big looking to give up a draft pick?
The draft is loaded with big men, do they want to give up a pick for a older player?
What are they offering back to match salary?
Do the Jazz want to take back that salary with added years?

It's not like the Jazz can just snap their fingers and make a trade happen, someone on the other end has to be willing to do it.

Also, you are talking about trading a role player vs. a trade for a main piece. Much different mindsets go into trading for that as you have to completely change your team if you add Big Al. Adding Budinger is just fitting a piece into a puzzle. Adding Big Al is like starting a whole new puzzle. Teams aren't that interested in doing that.

Did I just read a post from the Thriller? Guy, no need to draw out one point into an essay.

No doubt. Check on twolves board on realgm. They seem really excited about this trade (sarcasm). No one thinks he is a sg but cy.

And Draftexpress which list him as a SG/SF, not a SF/SG.

Also because fan's obsession with draft picks is over the top. % wise the chance are that Budinger is better than the player picked at 18, especially when you factor in the Wolves would be drafting.

Cy going against the grain...no.... There must be some mistake.

Hey, were all friends. Lets let Adelman decide if Budinger is a sg or sf.

Adrian Wojnarowski: The NBA has granted Boston a 2013 second-round pick from Oklahoma City in a dispute over Jeff Green's medical condition, sources tell Y! about 12 minutes ago

Ray Richardson: How real is T Wolves-Derrick Williams trade rumor to move up at this point? Would have to really b somethin special to get back in 1st round

Depends on if they go big with Beasley/Williams at the 3, or with shooting with Budinger and Webster. Budinger, like with a lot of players, can play either position because of his size, but his game is traditionally what you would expect from a 2-guard.

Way to stick to your guns.

You know who else is a "SG/SF" according to DX?

Austin Rivers. Great argument, Cyrone. Clearly DraftExpress should be the ultimate determiner as to what position a player is; not using your eyes to see what opposing SGs do to him if he's ever matched up against them.

Well it seems like other teams have no problem making trades? I know it takes two teams but trades happen. You make it sound like AJ is so undesirable around the league. He isn't that old and just had a comeback season that most teams would want. He has proven he is healthy which was the concern with him. The Jazz didn't completely change their team when AJ came on board. They lost Boozer and filled the spot with AJ.

The Bucks are one team who lost their center and could use AJ instead of taking a chance on a young unproven big man. Even if KG comes back or he doesn't come back the Celtics still need a center. They wouldn' t have to completely change their team. There are no proven big men or sure thing big men in this draft after Davis. Thomas will be good but he isn't a center. Benson is a liability on offense. Leonard has potential but he isn't a sure thing. Melo is a role player and will struggle offensively.

Even though AJ will make 15.5 million for some teams that would attractive because he comes off the books. So if they are looking to shed some salary to get ready for the 2013 FA market they could rent AJ for a year.
