Rumor: Ronnie Turiaf in SLC

Raja Bell G
Gordon Hayward F
Al Jefferson C-F
Andrei Kirilenko F
C.J. Miles G-F
Paul Millsap F
Mehmet Okur C-F
Ronnie Price G
Deron Williams G
-----------------------
TOTAL = 9 under contract for next year.

Jeremy Evans F (Non-guaranteed contract)
Kyrylo Fesenko C (FA)
Sundiata Gaines G (non-guaranteed contract)
Othyus Jeffers G-F (non-guaranteed contract)
-----------------------
What is the status of these guys? (UPDATED)

Also, even if we signed all 4 of these guys, that doesn't mean we couldn't sign Fez and Turiaf. In fact, you could play them at the same time, along with AK and Bell, when you wanted some uber defense and blockage.

i love this particular jazzfanz phenomenon. we pick a guy who is "tough" and "hard-nosed" and "plays hard" and we talk about how perfect he would be here. turiaf just isn't that good, guys.

jefferson > turiaf
sap > turiaf
memo > turiaf

so why pick up a guy who isn't even good enough to crack our 3-man big rotation? turiaf > fes, but that doesn't take into account that 1) fes is bigger, 2) we've already invested a lot in fes, and 3) fes is cheaper.

He is also 3-4 years younger meaning he still has room to improve.

Gaines and Jeffers have non-guaranteed contracts so they are Jazz property but can be waived without paying them.
We are supposed to be negotiating with Fes's agent now.
Evans same thing as Gaines and Jeffers--non-guaranteed contract I believe.

That's all you need to know.

Also, why waste more time on a guy that may or may not get better?

In this case, Fez has shown improvement, especially last year. He got much more serious and was able to help us in the playoffs.
However, I find it interesting that we had him against the Lakers yet Jerry decided not to use him very much. What does that tell you?
That tells me that Jerry doesn't trust him enough even though we were undersized and undermanned. Will that continue? If so, then
why waste more money and time with him if he's not even going to play?

Gracias, senor! So how's NC treatin ya? Very many Jazz fans out there? ;)

On topic, that's good that they're non-guaranteed, in case we need to drop them to make room for a trade or two.
