****, I'm becoming completely un-trustable around here lately.
I focused everything on adventure... career and everything. I made some sacrifices doing that (e.g. a normal family life has almost no appeal right now, and I have mixed feelings about that). But, there have been bounties/booties.

Was in an 'open-marriage' for five years, too. Believe it or not. (split amicably, fyi)

I did this as well, though I'm sure at least slightly differently .. I know that most that know me look at me and think I'm a blacksheep/renegade .. but it works for me.

my work allows me to travel. In fact, my work IS TO TRAVEL and be places for long stretches of time. You fall in love with places and people. You see the contingencies of the choices people make with regard to seriously personal and lasting issues (like sexuality and family things). I have serious doubts about the wisdom of ALL moralizing institutions/philosophies (nod to Nietzsche). And, I think the idea that you can be happy inside monogamy forever is a pretty astounding statement.

I was raised in SLC as a non-mormon (in a time when I was usually the only non-mormon in my classes) but the mormon sexual politics got to me. All my early dating was with Mormon girls who were trying to rebel, but not REALLY rebel. I'm betting you can see how that **** was toxic. Anyway, when I got free, I really went for it.

Doing so would give away valuable information as to who he is. He must remain mysterious.

He seems to be (or his interwebz persona) a guy stuck between being owned by the man (see: fully vested) and an adventurer at heart. We all have imperfections in our lives, no matter what road we choose .. for him, I suspect that he is a true adventurer/explorer at heart .. but always/consistently weighted down by the bureaucracy of the job ..

How romantic.

academia can be a real bitch. I might not do it for very long....
But, get this: it looks like I might get a research grant that would allow me to basically be unemployed for 1.5 years. (Obviously I have to do work (interviews, lots of reading and writing), but that is the kinda stuff I enjoy doing).

How the hell is that quantified? Did I miss the humor, maybe?

Nah, serious question. Like how seriously does your average Mormon take Mormonism and Mormon values? I would say Muslims are one of the more serious religious groups on average (meaning a good % Muslims are fairly strict Muslims), while Christians are on the opposite end of the spectrum. Just wondering where your average Mormon lies on that scale.

Damn serious I would say.

it was all consensual and pleasure was had by all. What's more awesome than that?
why don't you tell us a story of how you felt like **** for masturbating until you signed your body over to one woman for the rest of your life. Then, talk about how the sex tapered off and you started masturbating again pretty regularly and felt worse about it than ever before.

Why would I lie about myself?

I used to work with one Mormon girl for about 3 years. So here it is about her and her Mormon family ( only Mormon family I knew personally). Freaking hypocrites I must say - her all family was from Chile who were illegal immigrants to USA and somehow got legalized through Mormon church, they lived in Provo initially before moving where I live now. So, where to start, dad was child abuser ( used to beat the crap out of poor little three girls, forced them to eat until they puke and then forced to eat whatever they puked! ) - no wonder they all got ridiculously fat. Lately he came out of closet that he is gay, got separated and now lives with his partner in Bay area. Older sister was/is drug dealer/addict/thief, single mom who does not even know who her kids father is, got involved with police numerous times and I still can't believe she did not kill anybody while DUI numerous times or ended up in jail after shoplifting. Only normal person in that family was younger sister who to my knowledge did not do anything crazy as of yet. Mom is typical toxic parent/bully who always tried to influence mature daughters no matter what they were trying to do. Lol, she threatened to kill herself once if one of those sisters will marry foreigner and give up her USA citizenship. Middle sister who used to work with me was the real story - always was telling me that she can't drink hot drinks ( tea, coffee ) because of her religion, but had no problems drinking alcohol, smoking and partying every weekend. Recently got married but before that had no problem cheating on her fiance with girls ( yes she admitted that she was bisexual ) and even had threesome with random couple she met at the bar one night. Yet had no problem telling me at work how devoted Mormon she is and that she goes to church every Sunday. I knew she had mental health issues as she was always on antidepressants and tried to slice her veins few times so she might not be the best example but as I am telling you know all that family except youngest sister was freaking ridiculous.

Think you had an other-than-typical experience. (from a non)

Not sure what to make of your post, really.
