Yep, alot of other teams have overpaid a sub-star who was overvalued based on how he was used or perceived by the fans. Jazz should too.
Millsap is quite a bit better than most of the players on that list. Thank you for proving my point.

As a side note, 80% of your posts aren't laughably awful, so congrats.

Operating off of the market where Roy ****ing Hibbert is getting max offers, Batum is allegedly mulling over a 4-year deal at $45-50 million, and the soon to be corpse of Gerald Wallace is making 4/40, you can bet your *** that not only could Millsap ask for quite a bit more than he allegedly is, he'd be a piece very easy to move with net positive trade value.

While I'm relieved to see that most Jazzfans/z have come to have some realistic appraisal of Millsap in the last year (as evidenced by the poll), there are a lot of people that are really over-thinking this question in addition to the question of what it takes to build a championship team.

When has the best player on a good team been as under-appreciated as Millsap? Seriously, if he wants 40/4 then I'll sign that contract right now. No hesitation.

I thought you loved Hibbs.

I think KOC would actually be pretty giddy about getting Sap for 10 million a year. He has improved significantly since he inked his last contract and just entering his prime.

numberica's right, there's no way you let millsap walk if you can lock him up for 10 or less. he's been the jazz's best player, he continues to improve, and he's our most clutch player.

No hesitation. We've stumbled onto a player that's started to become the player everyone wished Odom and AK were, and people are still recycling this ridiculous narrative that's been around since before he was even drafted (2 short sry ok guys).

$10 million isn't even that much if you aren't dragging around ****ty contracts. And since the Jazz can spend
$10 million before they even eat into their two-max slots worth of cap-space next offseason, I struggle to see where the problem is. Especially since the list of
High-profile free agent signings for this team isn't very long and the Jazz basically have to spend 90% of the cap. The Jazz should be lucky that Millsap having no obligation to stay and as a UFA appears to want to stay.

ya know, when he actually gets the ball because it's not going to the black hole.

this. and if you do it right now, you don't have to bid against other teams next year when he IS an UFA.

I like Hibbert (more specifically, I like him a lot more than Big Hole which is saying almost nothing in a sense). He hasn't shown he's a max player. Indy is in a ****ty situation because it would really suck to let him walk but that's a tough pill to swallow.

How much more than 10 per is he going to get, though? At any rate, 4/40 is fair and I'd do it, but not until the very end of the FA period.

Can players sign extension during any point of the season? Or does it have to be in Summer FA?

So far, I'm liking the poll results. I'd like to lock him up at 10m/yr. With the odds of us trading Al dropping fast, we'll probably just let his contract expire. I actually think Favor's game is more effective at the 5 which only increases Millsap's value.

That's a good question by itself, but not my reasoning. I just wouldn't extend a guy like Sap until all the wheeling and dealing was over. You never know what you might get in a deal.

I wouldn't expect that Millsap's extension is priority #1 right now. Trades and free agency are #1 and #2. Once those issues are settled, I think you extend Millsap; there's such a thing as too many expiring contracts (i.e. players playing for contracts) on a single team. Extend the bedrock.

In the case that we don't extend Millsap this year, and let him test FA as a RFA (right?), how much money do you think other teams would offer him? Extensions can be risky because a player might get a freak injury the year he is extended and end up costing the team a lot of money. Also, if Favors ends up earning more minutes this year, that is naturally going to take away from Paul and his #'s, which may lower his market value. That could possibly push his $$$ in other team's eyes to below 10 per year. I know that is a ****ty way of thinking/doing business, but it may be the smart way to do it.
