I'd prefer to go with Favors and Sap over Big Al. If we go forward with Sap as a the starter it's still a risky move. He struggled against the Spurs, and in playoffs past against bigger players. However, he is a steady player who has been clutch, won a bunch of games for us, and is a team guy. It's a very hard choice.

I think the answer is going with Sap, drop Big Al, but still look for an upgrade.

Mo - Burks - Hay - Sap - Favors
Is that good enough to win it all?

**** no.

My only complaint about Millsap is that he seems to offensively disappear for large periods of time. This past year he did a better job of doing other things when his offensive game vanished for those stretches.

I saw that too but I thought it had more to do with Jefferson as a ball-stopper/black hole.

You can look at Millsap and see inconsistencies if you want. You can do this with every player.

I see amazing consistency over tumultuous change. I hope his ****ing jersey hangs from the rafters one day.

Could we do a sign and trade of Jefferson for Ilyasova? It would save us about 3M this year, we'd retain our depth up front, would get a stretch 4 (of sorts) who could also play some 3, and perhaps this is just wishful thinking, solve our "Who starts" issue. Ilyasova may be willing to come offf the bench, no?

Let me get my official stance on Millsap out in case what I am saying gets misinterpreted.

I love Millsap's. The way that he has gotten better and work on weak areas is a quality that should be admired. Do I want him on the Jazz? Yes. Do I want him to remain a Jazz man his entire career? Yes. Am I willing to overpay for him to stay? No. Do I want him coming off he bench and dominating? More than you know.

I hope this helps.

^ keep looking at the Buck's roster.... you're about to catch up with my thinking from, like, 6 months ago...

thanks for clarifying.
But, there is no need to bring up the "bench".
Jefferson should go.
Kanter isn't ready to start, and there is no timetable for that.

What's hard to understand?

The situation with Millsap when we have Favors coming up, is a bit similar to the situation we had with Boozer when Millsap was able to replace him---except that Millsap isn't an a$$. I think the Jazz will move him or let him walk like they did with Boozer, because he's worth more to another team than he is to us. I know people love Millsap, but tbh, I don't think the Jazz FO have ever seen Millsap as a starting PF on a contending team. Most other teams feel likewise.

lots of psychologizing here.
numbers and Millsap's attitude suggest otherwise.

I totally realise stats mean little to alot of people when they dont validate your side of things....
BUt, a small comparison of this last season between Sap (some say our BEST player) and Big Al (the reason we fail according to most)

This isnt cherry picking, these are stats for the whole season with Sap playing 3 more games and averaging 1 ONE minute less per game.
FG %....each at 49% -- FT% Sap 79% Al 77% -- Assists per game 2.3 to 2.2 (team player crushes the black hole /sarcasm) -- Rebounds per game 9.6 to 8.8 for AL -- steals and blocks per game are flipped with Sap getting 1 more steal per and Al getting 1 more block per -- Points per game 19.2 to 16.6 for Al -- Sap also averages one foul more per -- AND one more turnover per game
For the almighty PER ranking, Al was 22.88 for 12th in the NBA...Sap was 21.85 for 19th in NBA

I voted No but honestly would love to keep Sap on the team, if the Jazz pay him 10 mil per, fine. One of them DOES have to go, but I still dont get the love for the little engine that could, based on stats...I think the way Al looks disinterested bugs people. Yes, Im sure he probably has a few more touches, but it isnt like he is shooting like crap and wasting the touches. The blackhole moniker is a fake, and perpetuated by haters, that is all. Same minutes, same assists, same fg%, with Al getting couple more boards and points..

I don't like the way you see the game.

Can we get some defensive statistics around here? I would like to see +/- as well as per 100 possessions both offensively and defensively. Can some one get those numbers?

I am surprised how similar the numbers are between the two. I wonder if the advances numbers would tell us even more.

Yep and Sap has already been saying he is a starter, wants his minutes, wants his money and is pretty much demanding the jazz either pay him or trade him. We trade al and we are going to see how good sap really is when teams double team him being Al was our only scoring option on the team. Jazz would be stupid not to see what options are out there to see if they can improve and maybe younger. Teams are going to be giving away good players too free up cap space as you are already seeing it. I don't see harris , mo, al or sap being part of this team after next year. I think the jazz are going to look at teams wanting to get rid of their players to free up cap space. I would be fine with sap taking a 6th man roll on this team but he doesn't not see it that way and this situation is going to be forced one way or another. Both him and favors are pretty solid in saying they are pf on this team.

Prove it. I double dare you.

Dude i know your looking for a 7 page argument and I am not going to do it. Sorry . You can look and view things your way but from everything i have read and heard on the radio it doesn't take a genius to figure it out. Not sure how many times he has came out and said he is a starter and a starting pf. GO LOOK UP THE INTERVIEWS from his own ....ing mouth.
