Breaking News, Deron stays with the Nets

Guess they got their guy and kept him. I'm a bit surprised that he stayed, I didn't think he would but now they kept their value and we won't look like robbers in the night as much.
 
Mark Stein also reporting now that he chose 5 years, $100 million over the $75 million Dallas was offering him.
 
Glad he didn't go to the Mavs. The East needs more parity among their 8 playoff teams, this should help.
 
Bird rights make you wonder if we could've had a great shot at keeping him. Oh well onward and upward.
 
Remember, we like what we got for him, two #3 picks, the golden state pick and what became a #2 pick. It wasn't a desperation move by us, it was a calculated move to bring in value.......

Ok I don't believe all of this, but I will say that it wasn't as much a desperation move as it was a move to get someone who wasn't committed to the Jazz out and bring in some players who feel like they have been given a second chance. (read: more likely to stay for reasonable contracts)
 
I don't think the Jazz would've paid this kind of money to keep him around, Bird rights or otherwise.
 
The Jazz had painted themselves into a corner with AK, then Memo, then Jefferson, and then Jefferson pissed in it trying to put out a fire. Even though I miss the **** out of having a player that good and a guy that was a lone wolf, it probably played out like it had to.

Now if we can get corner pisser out of here, the Jazz will be in good shape.
 
Good - now I'll only have to hear the boo's once a year and the Jazz won't have to face him in the playoffs. win win.

It's hard to say if he would have picked staying with the Jazz over going to Dallas. But the whole situation does you make you want to play the what if game.

hell yeah bro I was so Pissed jazz fans booed Deron like that I wish he was still Here and he was my idol growing up I used to watch his Highlight videos all Day wehn I was in eighth grade I think. Hes the man I hope he wins the Title unless its against the Jazz ya know

Yep, money is always the thing left out of the discussions for some reason. Everyone just wanted to talk about which place Deron wanted to play in more Brooklyn or Dallas, but seemed like no one was discussing that staying with the Nets gets him an additional 20 mil + guaranteed.
