What's new

Summer League Squad

You really only need three bigs if you're doing it right. Sims might be able to be your 4th big (which is what I always figure his role would be anyway).

Basically he was a supremely non-athletic player who was smart enough to know how to take charges and pass the ball. He had 0 offensive skills and wasn't really good at anything. I guess he was super nice to everybody so we kept him on for a long *** time. Basically everything Simms is. Simms is probably a little bit longer, but other than that they seem identical to me.
The sad thing about Collins is he showed a nice mid-range jumper as a rookie and was actually a pretty solid offensive player next to Stockton and Malone...after his knee injury his accuracy declined and so did whatever quickness he possessed (he wasn't quick but he also wasn't a plodder in 2002 either). Defensively he became a poor man's version of his brother - solid a positional defender who drew charges - just not quite as big and not as effective.

Wow this sucks for Carroll he has been in the league for years. Summer league for him is a slap in the face.

Most of these players have absolutely no chance to make our roster.

I seem Sims and Simmons have an outside chance at becoming an emergency big man for us.

Weaver has been here before and can play a bunch of positions be cannot shoot.

Deron Washington was a freak athlete who may have knocked the rough edges off his game. I see those two getting a real looks as emergency wings if we lose someone for the season.

Slap in the face? He wouldn't have been on a team in 2011-2012 if it wasn't for the Jazz picking him up. He was a fringe NBA player before that.

He's only a 3-year vet.
DeShawn Stevenson played summer league when he was entering his 4th NBA season, Kosta Koufos when entering his 3rd...as much as I like Carroll as a bench player for the Jazz - he's still barely played less than 25 games in a Jazz uniform and has been waived twice in his career. Playing summer league certainly won't be a bad thing for him.

Mike Green of Butler may surprise some posters here.
He is a physical, pass-first, defensive-minded PG.
loves to play close to the rim and he is long.
a good contributor at rebounding department as well!
sign him ...

Henry Sims is a decent rebounder at collegiate level and a superb passer.
so he is maybe a little better than Collins?
