Mo Williams Press Conference

Sounds good to me. More toughness.....good.....

Does anybody remember if Raja said anything about finishing his career in Utah? You never know how things will turn out, but I do have a good feeling about Mo. Let's hope he'll be willing to bring up a young point guard because I was planning for the Jazz to draft one next year.

If I remember correctly Raja Bell jumped ship to the Suns the moment he had a chance. He didn't even give the Jazz a chance to make an offer. When he came back the second time around it was only because we offered a longer guaranteed contract then the Lakers.

Actually, he cancelled his trip to the Lakers after meeting with KOC.
I think Raja had good intentions. But the injury really took away moer than he realized and he wasn't willing to accept that, placing the blame on playing too much, then not playing enough.

The Lakers only had 1.8 million per they could offer. The Jazz offered 3/10. If the money would have been equal he would have gone to the Lakers. I do agree with you that Bell is in denial that he no longer has "it".

I'm not sure that he ever had "it". His first stint with us he would often, almost always, play outside the offense, go one-on-one, take ill-advised shots and get many ill-timed technicals. For whatever reason, the perceived toughness I suppose, he (and Harpring) were Jerry's pet players where he let all that stuff slide that regular guys would get glued to the bench for.

But at least he was a good enough basketball player to compete on both ends of the floor. He was young enough to play good defense and shoot the J consistently. Now, he no longer can keep up with the younger guys. That's what I mean by "it". Bell is simply in denial that he is no longer a rotation caliber basketball player.

If he's honest about wanting to come back here (and I have no reason to doubt him) then he's skyrocketed to the upper echelon of my favorite player on the team. Not many players seem to want to play here, though maybe that's just the insecurity of the Jazz fan in me.

I think wanting to be a starter was high on his list. I thin he just didn't want to be stuck behind a guy like CP3.

Exactly, 2003-04 Raja Bell was a heck of a player for Utah. He was the tough guy on the team - and his teammates fed off his competitive nature. He also was an extremely good knockdown shooter - much of our offense involved our guards coming off curls and pindowns for mid-range jumpers, and Bell hit a ton of those - and could make shots in big situations for us. He went to Phoenix when they offered him 5-yrs $25 million, and also because he and Steve Nash were close from their season together in Dallas. At this point it's clear he's lost it at both ends - so that toughness factor doesn't carry the same weight when you're getting your butt kicked out there.

Mo wants to be a leader, establish toughness, but at 29 he also still has the game to back it up.
