As far as the thread's original question, I'd say Millsap. Al is still a defensive liability and stops the offense a lot. I know that tune's been played to death, but it's true. On the bright side, I think we're only a year away from Favors being the best player on the team.
Millsap is a defensive liability as well and also at times holds up the offense, and is less consistent, neither is Millsap a good passer, not sure why you think he's a better all round player. Both have good midrange shots Al is a shot blocker while Millsap is good at getting steals. Millsap has some wing skills, and Al is one of the best if not the best post up players. Both al and Millsap haven't a clue how to box out, or set a real screen.

Millsap has lots of skill, but not better then Al.

I don't even know how to respond to that.

Sorry, but Al is our best player, but could see both Favors and Hayward jump him. Millsap disappears for long stretches, like the entire month of February, and isn't much better defensively. Al at the moment Al is the most consistent player we have.

If Hayward becomes our best player I fear for our ability to become a serious contender.

Who is the best rebounder of the 3? favors and its not even close.
Who is the best defender of the 3? Again, favors and it not even close.

Now as far as offense goes most people just automatically assume that millsap and jefferson are much better, however if you look at the games favors started you will see that he averaged almost as many points as them without having as many opportunities as them to score.(not as many plays ran for him)

I say favors by a long shot.

He said it best. Favors was always playing with Millsap or Jefferson. They never ran pick and rolls for him and he rarely got 1 on 1 opportunities. He mostly got garbage points or when the ball had to rotate from a double team.

Favors would be a 20-12 guy if they ran more pick and rolls and actually ran plays for him. And of course got the minutes he deserves.

For you people that think Al is the Jazz's best player, I'm sorry, but you are flat out wrong. It's sad how wrong you are. Here is your proof:

There were talks about Millsap being traded for a #5-8 pick. There is his value.

Favors was traded for Deron Willliams. There is his value.

Jefferson? He was traded for a first round pick and Kosta Koufos ($#!+, basically). Most on this board would take garbage back for him. Locke said that most GM's are calling about Jefferson and offering even less.

But, yeah, he is our best player.

p.s. Al gets 4 more shots per game than Millsap. If Millsap kept his shooting percentages and had 4 more shots per game, he would average 21 pts a game. To say Al is better than Millsap or Favors is laughable. Sorry

Favors is the best defender and rebounder - not close, really
Jefferson is the best post scorer and can rebound pretty well when properly motivated
Millsap is the best shooter out on the floor and the best off the dribble.

Between the three, I'd say that Favors already has the most impact on the game overall. If you don't believe that, go re-watch some of the San Antonio series.

Millsap and Jefferson both have games when they are en fuego, but on a night-to-night basis, Favors is ready to be a work horse at both ends.

If you asked me which player I would choose to start a team with, I would say Favors. If you asked any GM in the league who they would pick first, they would say Favors also.

Why do people keep getting this wrong?

Does anyone know what was really involved in that trade?

Offensively, Jefferson stands out.
Defensively, Favors.
Overall, Millsap.

I voted for Saps.

Jefferson was traded for Dontas Montewhaeverthehellhisnameis, Kosta Koufos, and Terrance Jones. Wow. Utah gave up crap. That's why we expect crap back.

I repeat. Favors was the key in the Deron trade. Millsap could have netted Utah a top 10 pick. Jefferson gets you three crappy minimum players. I bet Kanter has more value than Jefferson.

This is a no brainer. Favors is still very raw. Sap gives you great play in stretches and then has disappears. On a solid team he is not a starter. Al is it folks. That is why it is very unlikely that we trade Al unless we get a very good big in exchange. The Jazz like to win and they want to be in the playoffs. Without Al this team does not make the playoffs as presently constituted.

Repped for having the guts to criticize Millsap.

I believe Millsap is a good player deserving of praise for the effort he puts into developing his game, but he isn't the consistent player too many on this board believe him to be. Ever since his rookie year, Millsap has taken a third of the season off for unknown reasons. I agree, Jefferson is the most consistent player on the team, which I believe makes him the greatest contributor to wins...

...which explains why the team is so mediocre.

Just saying Favors because I feel like it and he will be the best player. No way I'm saying Al, no way.

This team reminds me a lot of the Jazz team from the summer of '86 when they traded the "best" player on the team, Adrian Dantley, to give the leadership role to they player with the most promise and potential: Karl Malone. That's what they should be doing with Favors. Ship Jefferson out and tell Favors that the team is his.

Favors is the best player on the team. He's a game changer.
