Repped for having the guts to criticize Millsap.

I believe Millsap is a good player deserving of praise for the effort he puts into developing his game, but he isn't the consistent player too many on this board believe him to be. Ever since his rookie year, Millsap has taken a third of the season off for unknown reasons. I agree, Jefferson is the most consistent player on the team, which I believe makes him the greatest contributor to wins...

...which explains why the team is so mediocre.

Wow someone gets it, and agree with what you said. When Millsap is on his game there's no one on this team that's better. He's hustling making smart plays, and letting the offense come to him, and working off of Al.

When it's not going well, he doesn't hustle, his defense is worse then Al's defense, and forces shots and doesn't pass, and the biggest difference between Al and Millsap is when Al forces shots he has a good shot at scoring, and Millsap looks like he's throwing up complete prayers. Millsap would be much better coming off the bench playing a few less minutes, not getting so worn down playing against the likes of Love and Griffin. I think he'd score more in less minutes playing against bench players, and giving the jazz more versatility on the defensive side of the ball.

If the jazz would play Millsap correctly I'd probably put him above Al.

This team reminds me a lot of the Jazz team from the summer of '86 when they traded the "best" player on the team, Adrian Dantley, to give the leadership role to they player with the most promise and potential: Karl Malone. That's what they should be doing with Favors. Ship Jefferson out and tell Favors that the team is his.

Favors is the best player on the team. He's a game changer.

Favors will be the best player on this team but not close at this point. As for the AD, he was shipped off because he was not a good influence on Karl or the team. That was made clear by Frank and Larry. They would have loved to have AD and Karl play together but AD was not helping. Plus Malone was doing a lot more at that point that Favors is now. Not the same at all.

I started watching the Jazz in 88 Malone was already the man, so its pure speculation on my part, but I have a feeling Malone was already more consistent his rookie year then Favors was last year.

YBB5 would you agree with that, not trying to say we shouldn't let Favors start or that we shouldn't trade Al, I'm all for trading Al. I'm just curious.

Without a doubt, I'd agree with that but I would also say that Malone was given more opportunity than Favors was given and he was an older, more experienced player than Favors and played a position the Jazz were woefully thin at during that time.

As to Gomretat's comment that the Jazz would have loved to have Dantley and Malone play together, that's not true. They were happy to ship Dantley's attitude out of town but they also knew that the two players would bump into each other down low as their offensive games were similar at the time. Getting rid of Dantley put the team in Malone's hands and allowed him to play with the more complementary Thurl Bailey.

Favors hasn't shown the consistency yet, but I put that more on the coach's rotations than anything else. When he's been given the opportunity to play, he's made the most of it. With more floor time, the consistency would be there. I think we saw that at the end of the season.

Derrick Favors. Game changer.

Shocked to see Big Al with so many votes considering all the hatred towards him on this board.

He's a perennial loser who only knows how to player loser basketball. He's been a defensive liability and him getting some of the youth's development minutes while not being a part of the team's future really sucked. I personally can't wait for him to go.

But all of that aside, he's clearly the best player on the team. Millsap gives you more flexibility and I would love to see him stick around. Favors has shown that he can be a defensive force, but he's WAY too raw offensively to seriously consider a better player than Al. Jefferson has world-class post game, elite footwork, and is very productive statistically.

I am one of Al's biggest haters, but I still live in the real world. Favors may develop enough in the upcoming season to be in contention for our best player. But he's not there yet.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner.

This poll shows exactly why this forum is full of idiots who are fairly sure they are elite NBA talent scouts. That Jeff isnt far and away leading is funny.
Poll isnt who do you like best, who will be better in 3 years, who works hard and makes the most of his small size.
Al is easily our best guy. That a back up and should be 6th man are in the running is laughable, but expected here. We also always vote Stockton as a better PG than Magic. Go figure.

I recall when Al was shipped here a commentator said Jefferson should do well with DWill. "He will never be a champion if he is the best player on a team. As a second option he has the chance to see the NBA finals."
This tells me regardless of how good he, or Paul or Favors are, Utah needs someone a step above Al or we have no chance of competing. Favors is the only one on the Jazz with the potential to grow into a perennial all-star, but ... how long do we have to wait?

If he were the best player, and as valuable as you think, KOC would be hinting about extending him and Kanter would have never been drafted. Lets just see how willing KOC is to extend Al after this season, shall we? Chances are he will be traded for little more than scraps at the deadline. KOC and Jazzfanz IQ > Scorpjazz, me thinks.
