Massive Shooting in Aurora (CO) Theater

My friends and I were walking out of TDKR at about 3:30 a.m. talking about how cool it was, and then we all checked Twitter and saw this and it kind of ruined our excitement. So scary, this could happen literally anywhere, anytime.

That's never happened with someone on death row.

You mean, becasue they get taken off of death row once the evidence starts to mount, presumably. Surely you're not claiming that no one on death row at any point has ever been later exonerated.

you crackdown on illegal arms then, you don't make it easy for everyone to carry guns to a theater, where anyone pissed off because they had a fight with the wife can shoot somebody on the way.Not to mention accidents.

I agree that the illegal gun trade needs better enforcement but tightening gun laws on the legal trade is not the way to do that. I can kill you with a letter opener so we better ban those as well.

Good point. Drugs have been illegal for a long time, and you pretty much never hear of anyone having those.

If you believe the demand for drugs is at about the same level as the demand for assault rifles, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.

Weapons-grade plutonium and small pox spores are a wet dream of every wanna-be terrorist and Bond villain. How come those haven't made their way into their hands?

I've carried a pistol into every movie I've seen for the last five years. I don't go anywhere without packing. I don't have a CC either, I open carry that ****. Come at me, Moe.

But do school and theater shootings happen every year in the Netherlands? what about Canada? Laws might not stop it completely but it will be a deterrent of some sort for sure
America is already screwed up because of its gun culture. Thats their heritage. You dont want to make some frustrated employee or some loser get easy access to a gun and blow people up whenever he feels like. I need guns for my self-defense is the usual weak argument by pro-NRA guys. And do you really want all people to carry pistols to watch Dark Knight?

yes, if 1 ou of every 3 people carried guns. there sure as hell wouldnt be 12 dead 50 injured

If banning guns reduced the frequency of these mass shootings by 10%, would you support it then? 25%? Any number? Because mamny coutries have not experience a repeat of mass shootings after tightening gun laws.

The last thing that we needed in a confused and panic stricken (dark) movie theater with clouds of tear gas were more idiots shooting guns.

I guarantee you that instead of 12 being dead we'd be talking about 50.

Besides, the dude was wearing body armor.

People exercising their 2nd amendment wouldn't have helped at all in this case. It would have just killed more people in the crossfire.

So what's the money trail background here? The gear he had must run into a significant amount of money, especially for an unemployed person. Are his parents loaded? Did he ever work before he bailed on college? Is there any info on that angle yet?

I'm trying my best to avoid reading too much about it until a couple weeks out, because like with every other story with any level of complexity to it, so much misinformation comes out so soon after the events.

I honestly believe that if the government ever tries to round up all the guns and remov e them from gun owners it woudl result in armed insurrection at the least. I know many people that would refuse to hand over their weapons. I can see a couple of them fighting to keep them. Once that starts happening more and more would join in their defense.

I could see a few different scenarios playing out, depending on how communication would work under a gun grab. Anything from tens of thousands of little Wacos to full scale resistance. I have a feeling we're going to find out.

Me to and I am not looking forward to it.
