Darko?

He'd be a lot better option than Fes for a 3rd big, which I'm hopin' we get. He's got a lot more skill, a 7-footer who can block shots and has a decent jump shot. In a structured system like the Jazz, maybe he'd develop more consistancy...

3rd big?

Jefferson 6'11''/Favors 6'10''/Kanter 6'10''/Millsap 6'7'' (Plays bigger)/Evans 6'8''/Williams 6'9''

I would say we are pretty big.

Plus I don't believe our '5th' or '6th' big is going to get paid anything more than a D League contract.

We need more time for our 'future' in Favors/Kanter so why bring in someone that will take time away anyways.

Since Darko got amnestied, the Wolves will pay what he had left on his contract minus what his new team pays him, so that shouldn't be much of a factor with Darko. That said, I don't see Darko coming here. After a lousy season last year, he'll probably look for a situation where he can either expect more minutes than he'd get here (to show he's still got something to contribute), or if no such situation exists, a situation where he'll be on a team contending for the title.

If the Howard situation happens soon and the jazz could move either millsap or Jefferson for picks and or a young talent then I wouldnt mind this.

With Millsap taking most of the pf minutes adding another C will just limit Favors minutes even more. Let's sign a minimum salary player to just come in in emergency situations.

Need some amnesty clarity. I thought that Darko has essentially cleared the amnesty waivers and can now negotiate with any team he wants. Help.

Yes, I believe that's true. First shot goes to teams under the cap. If no one puts in a claim, the player can negotiate with anyone.
I think it's pretty telling that NO teams made a claim. Darko is turrible. We're already worried about Kanter not getting enough time. And some want to bring in yet another big? Won't happen unless Jefferson is traded.

C- Jefferson, Kanter, Favors
PF-Favors, Millsap, Evans (and Jefferson if needed).

We have enough players at the 4/5.

Sometimes I think fans can develop a bit of the 'hoarder' mindset where they want more and more players until their team is way in the tax and there is no more room left (for young player development).

I am surprised that no eligible team bid on him in the amnesty sweepstakes. You'd think a capable center at a fraction of his salary would be a good get, especially for teams in need of a center like the Hornets and Cavs. I could see Miami offering Darko a veteran minimum deal.

Hmmmm. I've read Jefferson is 6'10" and Kanter 6'9". And neither of them has a reach to brag about. Darko has been listed as 7'0", with better reach. He was amnestied weeks ago, and apparently nobody put in a bid. I wouldn't use him except to defend some of the NBA's bigger scoring C's, and he's plenty long to block some shots. On offense, when his jump shot is on, he can be tought to defend.

And there's your reason.
He's not a good shooter (46% FG and 57% FT's), not a monster on the boards either. Hard to believe he's been around the league for 11 years. You can't say he's on the decline because he didn't ever reach that high.

So why would he even consider coming here?

So we already have a logjam at the 4/5 with Millsap/Jefferson/Favors/Kanter as well as Evans/Willams who can play some PF if needed and you want to give a contract to a guy who is going to take minutes and is brought in to defend some of the bigger scoring Centers? Who are the 'bigger' scoring centers in the league that Jefferson/Kanter/Favors cannot defend? I think you are talking about Bynum and Howard and that is probably it no?

Now like it has been mentioned, if Jefferson or Millsap are moved, yes I would bring him in as my 4th 'big' but as a 5th big there is no purpose or reasoning that makes sense.
