AK Sucks in Olympics Operner Vs. GB -- only scores 35

He should have scored 50 then, right? I am actually leaning more towards 75 points.

These are the final 12 qualifiers. Every team in the Olympics is decent. GB also has that guy menshe bomshe, or something like that, who played for Dallas. There might be some others who played in the NBA, not sure. I didn't see today's game. But none of the teams who made it to the Olympics are chumps.

Okay. AK's good, but I just don't want to see him in a Jazz uniform again. All of that money that we could have had barring that damn extension.

The ankle/knee injury I think in 05 is what hurt his performance, but still... with the money we would have had had Andrei not been given that crazy extension, who knows what would have happened.

Can you back that up with statistical evidence ... dork!

The games missed are easy to find for anyone with a computer and a brain. The Helen Keller appearances, not so much. It's pretty tough to find statistical evidence in cases where the guy doesn't even show up.

AK has always dominated in Olympic ball, then suck for us.

Do you think the reason he plays better for Russia might have to do with how his coach uses him and how his teammates give him the ball when he's in position to score. Something the Jazz weren't too good at. Funny that Golden State was thinking of signing him since Mark Jackson used to feed him alley-oops all the time -- that was when Jerry and Stock weren't too enamored of the alley-oop and there was even a little controversy in the locker room over that, and I believe AK was actually in Jackson's camp.

Hey, FP, where do you get the idea that Klinko is overrated here on Jazzfanz, I would think just the opposite, judging by these dumb replies. And so far as him scoring 35 in the NBA, his career high in the NBA is 31 points. But he never was a big scorer. His career season high is 16 plus / game. As I said in another post, this in part had to do with how the Jazz used him and also because he often was not given the ball when he was in position to score. I remember the period when Deron was freezing him out, when he wasn't shooting well -- but then he'd get mismatches with the point guard underneath the hoop and Deron still wouldn't pass him the ball. But all the Deron lovers on here had no problem that -- shows you how stupid some of the posters on here are. They don't know dog turd about hoop. The way you play the game is to pass to the guy who has the best and easiest shot. That's what team basketball is about.

If only the Hall of Fame player and coach would have adjusted their games to accommodate a slightly above average player somehow he would have been dominant?

Theres still the occassionals here that think (1 more chance). I gave Kirilenko chance after chance to really pull for him, but I don't know, he just couldn't stay consistent. Maybe it was Deron, though. I don't know, but I just don't have any business with following Andrei Kirilenko. I liked him back in the day, but now he's 31 and is probably only good for being a Shawn Marion type player these days at best.

A lot of people here dont know about basketball. True. Everyone looks at stat books and base their judgements there.

....he doesn't have to back it up with stats....we all got EYES! We watched Klinko night in and night out. Oh, wait! We watched him every other week or was it every other month? He was hurt a lot!

How many times did AK do this in the NBA? Lebron James only scored 9 pts today. Next you'll claim that AK is better than Lebron. ALL you AK lovers think this really matters. I will give AK kudos for playing well. Now can you admit that AK was an average nba player who underachieved because he was too lazy.

Never. His career high is 31 in the NBA

Nah, it's probably because the level of competition in the Olympics is lesser than that of the NBA.

Outside of Deng, all the GB forwards are scrubs. Not much competition. It's like a college star playing against a bunch of nobodies at the local YMCA.

Kieron Achara (Manresa)
Pops Mensah-Bonsu (Besiktas)
Drew Sullivan (Leicester Riders)
Luol Deng (Chicago Bulls)
Robert Archibald (Zaragosa)
Joel Freeland (Unicaja)
Dan Clark (Club Estudiantes)

The controversy that year was Jackson thought he should start ahead of Stockton and led a mini-revolt. And yes, AK went confederate and sided with Jackson.

AK's always played well in international play and in Russian club play.

That means nothing in the NBA.

AK doesn't suck in the opener for any league, he sucks in the last 20-30 games, you know, the ones he doesn't play because of injury.

He has a faulty back, it kills him once or twice a year, never mind the pulled this and strained that. I would love to keep AK if he were healthy, but he isn't consistently, and that just isn't worth it.

First of all, Deron isn't in the HOF yet, second AK is a lot better than slightly above average -- how many average ballplayers get to make the All-Star team or All-Defensive Team -- he made either 1st or second team All-Defense 3 years in a row. You could say he became a slightly above average player after Deron came to the Jazz, which is how a lot of people on here judge him. Third, Sloan admittedly did not handle or use AK to his best advantage. So, what you say has no substance whatsoever.

Jackson didn't think he should start over Stockton, but he did have disagreements over how to run the team, and the alley oop was one of them. In fact, Jackson was one of the best alley-oop passers ever in the NBA, a style that Stockton did not like to use.
