What's new

I'd say this guy's got our number for sure!

Nice find carolinajazz. I still like to think that the Jazz will beat out the Wolves in the standings, but everyone can have their opinion. And he least Lowe asked the right question about the Jazz being able to guard anyone.

Zach Lowe has always been consistent about his opinions on the Jazz. One of my favorite basketball journalists.

I'm excited to see what Jefferson brings next year. He really has gotten better every season. If Jefferson continues to pass the ball at a higher rate, a Jefferson/ Favors lineup could look good. Favors is a much better defender (obviously) and could guard the better of the opposing 4/5 position. The opposition will then put their better defender on Jefferson and maybe Favors can get some opportunity. The Lakers still hold an advantage.

With the shooters in Mo, Foye, and Marvin we'll have to see what happens. If Jefferson can continue to command a double team and find the open man our offense will open way up. Hopefully, Favors can make up for some of Jefferson flaws/not giving a **** on defense. One thing I really like about what KOC has done this offseason is not signing any below average defenders.

Don't get it twisted. I'm not advocating for Jefferson, just being optomistic, is all.

I dunno about Jazz beating the Wolves this season. The Wolves starting 5 is going to be Rubio, Roy, AK47, Love, and Pec. And their bench is improving. Granted that these 5 are all healthy I doubt the Jazz will beat them. And this is coming from a true Jazz fan.

...thank you! I always enjoy finding writers similar to Peter Vescey....who tell it like it is!

The one place Jefferson defends well is the post. Whuile "better" could mean anything, you put Jefferson on the guy who plays with his back to the basket, or hangs around it for offensive rebounds, and let the faster Favors guard the big who spots up for jumpers.

This. "Better" is quite vague. Favor on Dirk, Jefferson on Brand/Kaman.

Is Dallas REALLY that much better than us?

I don't think so. I kind of wish Lowe would have included record predictions as well. For all we know, he may be picking Dallas to be only 2 or 3 games ahead of the Jazz. I think the teams at the bottom of playoffs and a few outsiders will be very close together.

Is Minnesota REALLY that much better than us?

They both have All-Star talent.

Minnesota was better than the Jazz last season before Rubio went down. They should be quite better than last season with the additions and growth in young players. I'm waiting to see how Dallas meshes before calling anything but they do look decent on paper. I say Minnesota > Dallas though (gasp).

I would also say that Wolves > Dallas, but not Dallas > Jazz.

Jazz have a years worth of great chemistry, while shedding all Of the bad-apples and adding good system players. I only expect our team chemistry to improve, along with (hopefully) our defense improving after going through a proper training camp.

It'll be Neck-and-neck between us, Minny and Denver in my opinion. Battle for' da 6th seed yo'

I hope this is the case, because AK is a better pf then sf. AK should've gone to a team that has room for him to play pf.

Me too. Both were 36-30 last season. The Jazz have definitely improved & grown. I'm not sure Dallas has. Here's how I see them:
Kaman/Brand>>>>>Haywood
Mayo<<Aging Terry
Kidd to Collison might be a wash
Dirk is aging
Marion is too.

Nice offseason moves but they won't be much better than last year, if at all.

I have to put OKC, San Antonio and the Lakers ahead of everyone else. The Clippers certainly look like the 4th seed, barring injuries or getting mixed up with the Kardashians.

I'll be disappointed if the Jazz aren't battling for the 5th seed down the stretch. Schedule will be tough early (a lot of road games), so we'll probably hang around .500 for quite a while, then pick up speed in mid-January.

Odom is a Kardashian so sounds good. 4-6 seed sounds pretty close to what we should be shooting for assuming nothing catastrophic happens.
