Jason Williams is still being considered for Magic’s 3rd PG spot

He played actually very well with the Magic last year (20 minutes per game). Yes he is 34 and has a injury history. But he is a better shooter than Price from anywhere on the floor. He is a better passer. And we aren't ever looking for a long term fix at back up point guard. And after playing 20 minutes per game and having a good year. He could easily play 10-12 minutes per game for us.

If Orlando wants him back as the 3rd point guard than wouldn't he rather be the back up point guard here. Orlando can't offer him more than we can so I think its realistic.

He doesn't have many options and it looks like Miami is not even going after him.

Any older player wants to be on a winning team and contribute still. And the Jazz can provide that for him.

I'd rather have Price.

Price is out of control. Williams could at least run an offense and hit an outside shot. His defense will obviously not be as good but Price also is overrated defensively. He takes a lot of chances and gives a lot of players free throw attempts when they are not needed. He reaches way too much and never holds his ground always falls for pump fakes.
Offensively Williams is a better option. And that is what we lack when Deron goes out. Price has no clue on how to run the point. He is not patient enough.

Alright, you changed my mind. Amazing.

I don't see him and Sloan getting along.

There have been a couple articles illustrating how much he's grown as a professional since his years in Memphis/Sac. Two years ago was when I read the last one he seemed level headed in his comments. Miami was then still believing they could be a solid playoff club, and talked a lot about how he's professional, respectful, and only wanting to give back to his team.

Granted, it was Miami. Granted, they didn't do anything. But I'd give him a chance with a cheap contract.

edit:

From Wikipedia:
In his later years with Memphis and Miami, he has significantly tamed his extravagant playing style (in the last three seasons, he has never averaged more than 1.89 turnovers per game) and has consistently achieved one of the highest assists per turnover ratios in the NBA. Williams retired with career averages of 11.7 points and 6.5 assists per game.

He tried to retire, and then came back to work with Orlando, probably hunting for a ring. During his year in Orlando, he played all 82 games and 20 minutes a game. Even started a few. Current numbers suggest we should think about it.

Ya he changed way too late. He could of easily been one of the better point guards in the league if he was mature early in his career.
Well he would serve a good purpose for us now. Best option we have.

I could be wrong but it seems like i remember hearing that he lived near Orlando and that was a big reason for him coming out of retirement ( Im sure the millions he made last year didnt hurt either) It would be interesting to see how cheap he would be. I like price so if he is cheap let the two of them battle it out.

The Magic didn't exactly slobber trying to get JWill re-signed. With his perceived success there, he may have wanted a big raise; dunno... Price has always been an energy guy, if not the smartest of PG's. I do like Williams offensively, but we lose that energizer effect if we cut/trade Price... Maybe bring JWill in to replace Sundiatta and let them all compete. Thing is Sundiatta seems like a better shooter than JWill or Price.... Tough call!!

Sad really.

I'm not entirely sold on Jason Williams, but I know (1) he is way better than Price or Gaines and (2) price and Gaines have excuse being the #2 PG on the Jazz - 3rd PG would be ok. They are barely better than Jeffers and he doesn't even deserve a roster spot on the New Jersey Nets. So although I don't love the idea of signing Jason Williams, it would still be an upgrade.
