AK Sucks in Olympics Operner Vs. GB -- only scores 35

If Russia wins, (game starts now!) they will play in finals. That means silver at least.

AK: 2/12 from the field. 5/10 from the line. Shocker that he sucked when a big game came around. Especially from the line when it mattered most. Good job AK.

not a good first half for AK. probably the first game i've seen where he hasn't been much of a factor on the offensive end.

on defense, russia's energy has been frenetic and has really messed with spain's game. they're been very aggressive and taken a lot of defensive risks.

Yeah, he choked from the line when they had chance to cut it to 6 with 1min left and had poassesion after flagrant foul. At least you can't blame him for not trying or playing hard. Spain actually made that decisive run in 3 quarter when he went to bench with 4 fouls, his impact on defense was very important for Russia.

I wouldn't say that he choked. What you saw is the real AK. A guy who can't consistently shoot, makes silly fouls and has a hard time finishing against taller players. AK had some nice plays too but there is no way he is worth $10 million a year, but hey I am sure it was DW or Sloan's fault he didn't play well the last two games against Spain.

He pooped the bed. No excuses. This game was, in fact, very much AK. Even at his best, he had games like this.

The curious part for me in this Olympics has been that Andrei hasn't been nearly as good/creative a passer as he was.

And yes, I saw that Blatt said he played the game with an injured quad and had a shot this morning, but as is always the case, if you're going to play with an injury, don't try and play through it by camping on the perimeter and shooting threes.

Always an excuse ready for AK's poor performances. He didn't look injured to me when he was shooting 5-10 from the FT line.

I thought on fouls 2 and 3 on him he didn't touch the guy.
Around the same time, he had a lot of contact on some layups without a call.
Too bad he wasn't 100%, I thought he looked a little slow, I assumed he was just getting older... and well, maybe that's what happens when you are older and you try to play as fast as ever, you always have quad injuries.
What the heck is with Spain hitting opponents in the head 3 seconds after the play is over?
That pisses me off, they should be punched.

Funny, I've rarely heard of quad injuries in sports as compared to say, hamstring injuries.

It's frustrating when the team I am rooting for gets a big lead, all they have to do is grind it out, and they promptly starting turning the ball over and missing 3s.

You are right, hamstrings are injured way more often. Quads are usually not strained or pulled, you get quad contusions after somebody knees you. ( thats I believe injury AK sustained playing vs LT ).
