An uncle baby-sitting the newborn left the child on a bed unattended while he went to the kitchen to prepare a bottle for her, Solis said. When he returned, he found the family's Pomeranian dog on the bed attacking the baby, Solis said.
The fact that someone called the cops and that newspaper has someone assigned to listen to the police scanner. Nothing more.So what makes theirs so special to get written about in the paper?
Well the media has proven beyond a doubt that pitbulls are the only dogs that ever bite people.
The funny thing is a dog trainer I know personally was bitten by an adolescent chocolate lab. Bitten to the bone in her forearm and had an emergency room visit. She was asked 10-15 times if the dog was a pit bull. Each time she responded that it was chocolate lab. But everyone knows that labradors never ever bit anyone. And if they did it was because they were being beaten. Of course because she trains a lot of pit bulls, she got quite testy with the medical personnel.
This dog trainer believes in positive only training methods. Rewards for desired behavior and no punishments. The trainers opinion was that owners of the labrador refused to tell the dog no about anything which eventually lead to the dog attacking her.
I once heard a statistic that labs were one of the breeds that had the bite rates. I don't know if that's true or not. I would imagine that they are accidental bites. I know my labs tend to get real hyper when we break out the tennis balls and tend to try to get them right out of our hands. It would be easy to accidentally get my hand in that type of situation.
I've owned two labs (both black) and neither ever bit anyone. Even when the kids would treat them like carnival rides.
But, that's just those two particular dogs...
I have two as well right now as well as growing up my entire life with them and never had any incidents either.
That is they type of dog i am going to get. Just haven't decided between yellow, chocolate or black.
Black.
