ESPN-2012 NBA Player Rankings

Eddie Curry at 500 is just two low (speaking of a punch to the gut terms and quantum speaking.) With that said, it made my week. ****ing Eddie Curry. Eddie ****ing 500 pound Curry who ate too much Curry.

Who will get a championship ring in spite of having never played in a playoff game.

did you see him late this season? he actually got back in really decent shape. lost over 100 lbs.

still couldn't get back on the floor because he sucks basketball-wise, but at least he doesn't have his own orbital path around the sun anymore.

It's interesting to re-visit these draft busts.

For example, go to NBAdraft.net and look up Eddy Curry.

Player comparison- Shaq
Potential - 11 (Literally off the charts!)

And now he's the worst player in the NBA.

Then there's Kwame Brown and Hasheem Thabeet. Both listed as having insane size, athleticsm, and potential.

For the record, I loved Chandler way more than Kwame coming out, and Curry too in that same draft. Chandler had what was not only obvious athleticism but agility. Kwame was/is a ****ing robot and not as quick to explode off the ground.

I remember going to a jazz game and seeing eddie curry in the lay up line during warmups....... He was doing 360 dunks, and windmill dunks effortlessly and i remember thinking wow a guy that big with that much athleticism is going to be amazing someday.

I guess when you have no work ethic you can go from a high draft pick with tons of potential to one of the worst players in the league pretty quick.

Roger finally appears at #310.

Way over-rated.

LOL... that means he wouldn't be top 10 on the average NBA team... how is that over-rated?

separating 301-500 (ie, the non-rotation guys) is basically just varying shades of suck anyway. and, as much as we (myself included) are sick of raja, the guy does have some NBA skills.

Due to the fact that Tinsley, Watson and Evans who all bring much more to the Jazz than Bell does are all ranked lower.

don't get me wrong, there are about 450 guys in the NBA i'd rather have than raja bell... i'm just saying that if we removed all the headcase stuff, he had a year that at least makes him look like a candidate for a backup role on most teams.

And yet he couldn't find a team to sign him so he backed out of his verbal buyout agreement with the Jazz. Or so it seems. I say that means there are more like 372 guys who are better and 310 is indeed overrated.

But you're right about shades of gray, of course.

we don't know that to be the case, either. maybe they only approached teams on bell's short list of "i would like to play there." maybe teams did want him but realized they'd get him cheaper after an amnesty cut so they didn't want to facilitate his alternative to amnesty in hopes that they could save a few bucks. maybe there were teams interested but nobody wanted to sign him leading up to amnesty because, in early july, there are still bigger names in play.

i would bet that if/when raja is ultimately released from the jazz roster, somebody will sign him for 2012-13.

true, hence my "or so it seems" disclaimer. It certainly *seems* like that's what happened. We might find out differently.

I don't bet, but if he does I'll apologize for agreeing with YB85 about #310 being an overrating of him.

well either way... we don't want him back.

on that i'm sure we can agree, so whether his accurate ranking is #285, #310, #499, #1,652,094 or anywhere in between, the argument is all academic.

and fwiw, i wasn't trying to dispute YB... i just thought it was a funny statement, as though there's some easy set formula for telling apart the 299th best NBA player from the 310th. all i'm trying to say is that, on most teams he would probably have at least some kind of role, which makes 300-ish seem about right.
