What's new

Official Utah Utes Football 2012 Thread

Sounds like you either made that story up, or you life is the basis for a late 90's sitcom.

Boy Meets World. I was Minkus. No but really, It was during that '05-06 season when the Jazz weren't very good but were scrappy and fun to watch. Double losses(girls and games) on most nights.

Well suprise, suprise. Utah is already "resting" Jordan Wynn due to shoulder soreness.

I'm actually excited about that considering I'm ready for the Travis Wilson era to begin ASAP but it sounds as if Hays has been one of the suprises of camp. Either way I'd prefer to see either of those two over Wynn at this point.

For those of you still on pins and needles concerning national distribution of the Pac-12 Network, this is a good time to remind you of the following things.

FOX will have the rights to 22 games, televised nationally on either FOX (eight games) or F/X (14 games).

Four appearances: Oregon, USC
Three appearances: Stanford, Cal, UCLA
Two appearances: Washington
One appearance: Washington State, Oregon State, Utah

DirecTV needs to make it happen or else I'm not going to be able to see my beloved Utes play apparently. The Utes are the Pac 12 Network.

Maybe it was because of my USC, "My team is always going to be on T.V. so I don't care about anything else" arrogance, but I honestly didn't realize the Pac 12 Network is not just 1 channel until today. I don't know if that makes it better or worse. IF SC is only on that Los Angeles channel, I'm not going to be able to see the game right?

There is the PAC 12 Network national channel that everyone gets, and then the 6 regional channels. I would guess that every USC game will be on FOX, FX, ESPN, or the PAC 12 Network national channel.

Weird.

So... for ME, the Pac-12 National channel is 410 on Comcast, and is not in HD.
The Pac-12 Mountain channel is on 37 and 757 (HD).
So my regional is in HD, but the national is not.

Anybody else got the same in non-Utah areas?

The key will be the oline (as with most teams). Those two JC kids that were supposed to step up really gave it to Utah being out of shape. Now you got kids who were in Whit's doghouse vying for starting spots. Lots of shuffling going on. I don't think it's a talent issue as those JC kids were overhyped anyway. It'll just be a matter of whether they gel or not.

Other than Jordan Wynn, the O-line and LB's are the question marks. Hopefully it will be answered like my question last year of "who will run the ball"?

If I remember right I think it hinges on the Cottonwood kid playing right tackle. If he can hold that down it will help a bunch. If not then major shuffling.

Will DirectTV pull it off by Thursday? The suspense is killing me.

As a new college football season kicks off this week, gobs of fans around the state and across the nation may be unable to watch Pac-12 teams play on the conference's new television network.

That's because they're subscribers to DirecTV, which has not signed an agreement to carry the Pac-12 Networks to its nearly 20 million customers.

That's gotta suck not knowing if you can even see the first game. Good luck with that Ute fans.
