That's what I thought, but it seems like people aren't that high on him.

I thought about taking Wilt just for the simple fact he was voted second best player in that poll, in the NBA forum. I thought that might help my team win. After all your team wins by vote. However, I am surprised he slipped considering the results of that poll. It appears when it comes down to it, people don't think he is #2 after all.

I considered all that, but decided I would rather build a team I see as being really good.

My thought process exactly. I think there are plenty of people who think Shaq would beat Wilt head-to-head.

All time rankings take in too much b.s. to be meaningful. Money influx has given the post 80's players an unmeasurable advantage. Talent influx too.

Another deciding factor for me is leader boards showing Wilt Wilt Bill Bill Wilt Bill Wilt Wilt. That's nothing more than a product of an amateur league, amateur players, & amateur rules. I'll give them respect on the all time greats charts, but not in the talent category.

I agree that Wilt dominated simply due to the competition and his advantages in size and athleticism. He would still be a dominant big in the modern NBA, but nowhere near as legendary. Bill Russell however was a SUPREMELY talented player. He wasn't specially tall, nor was he all that physically dominant, and yet, he's quite possibly the best, and most tenacious, defender of all time.

I agree.

The thing I can say about the olders guys though, is its not their fault they were born back then. Also they did not have the advantages that players have today. I think
That if Wilt had played in this era, no doubt he would be a good NBA player. How good I don't know. We have seen a lot of 7 Footers come and go. It doesn't guarantee success. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he would at least be an all-star. He was athletic, and as long as they come. I just don't think that stops Shaq. Shaq never met a 7' that he couldn't bully. That's is Shaq's whole deal. He's not more talented everyone by any means. He is just heavier, bigger, meaner, and cockier. To the point it's almost cheating. There is nobody he couldn't back down. I believe if he ever could have developed any kind of shot , and could hit free throws, he would have been the undisputed best player ever. Shaq never reached his potential which is disappointing, but get him to focus and he was impossible to stop. So for the record I drafted the focused in his prime shaq. Not the Cavs Shaq.

I've always liked other centers better, like Hakeem, but if it ever comes down to picking one, I know I have to pick Shaq. His brut strength is too hard to pass up. One thing is for sure, my team won't be soft.
 
Can we get this show on the road so I can stop talking about my one and only player, Shaq?

12 or 24 hours is fine to give someone a chance not to miss out, but that doesn't mean you should take all 24 hours of it. Everybody who joined are people who seem to be on here 24/7, now they are no where to be found.

How about some early voting while we wait.

Orangello is sitting pretty nice only having Jordan. The rest of the single players, it's to early to tell.

Not sure if I'm digging Siromars picks so far. Thomas and Russell? Eh!

Numbericas Oscar and Tim Duncan are nice.

So is Franklin's Kobe and Karl.

I think I give the edge to Franklin. I think Kobe edges Oscar. Duncan edges out Malone, just by a little. But Kobe to me deserves to be picked higher than he was.

Tough decision though. Gotta love Duncan and Oscar.

I would love to see Oscar play in the modern era.

One thing about Franklin's picks are do they mesh well? Not sure if that goes too well. Love the amount of talent though.

Both have top 3 players at their position. Its a close call.
