Jazzfanz ALL-TIME Fantasy Draft

Okay.. Here was my poke fun of Jazz fanz strategy.. This board gets enamored with BIG.

My starting lineup .. Subject to change .. Goes;

Magic Johnson - 6-9"
Dale Ellis - 6-7"
Dr J - 6-7"
Rodman - 6-8"
Bynum - 7-0"

:)

I love Dale Ellis. Don't think he can guard Nique though.
I love Dr. J, but I don't know what he can pull off against KG.
Rodman's such an over-the-top defender that he often defends himself, creating a 4 on 5 situation

I'd get one of the remaining lengthy, athletic PFs and bring Rodman off the bench as a rebounding specialist.

Good assessment. Was torn on that this last pick.

Are we going to 10 rounds? I feel like there's becoming less strategy, and it's just a game of picking a tier of player that's available. Beyond the next couple of rounds there's also becoming a lot of parity amongst the remaining players. If this were about making an 8-man rotation, that would add a bit more strategy to the picks. Of course, I'm saying this after I've picked guys who can play multiple positions....

Whatever works. I guess we're going 10 picks.

Doesn't much matter, folks will vote based on the first 6, guaranteed. Which only poses to ask why go further .. But I'm good with whateva.

I don't feel that way at all. My plan from the beginning was to take a lesser center so I could fill in Kobe up front. I still want 3 specific players to fill everything in.

Not me. I'm going to consider that numberica will try to wear the hell out of your best big with Zo & bring Dikembe in keep it rolling. He'll also switch between Reggie wearing the **** out of Lebron & Marion trying to guard him. Fresh legs at this talent level mean a lot and his team might kill yours when Drexler sits.

So maybe we do a distribution of minutes by position and describe the basic offensive/defensive strategies and sets, how we're going to defend certain match-ups, who is the primary scorer, etc. Also, I get what you're saying, but I'm not sure people voting are going to think through the "Reggie will wear your defender out' argument or similar arguments. They might just look and say, 'Drexler will overpower Reggie,' or 'Drexler will post Reggie and draw fouls,' etc. Drexler is on Whiskey's team btw. It's just really hard to predict how things will play out in that much detail without actually playing the games.

You're giving too much credit to the general voting populace. Numb does not dictate the winner. It is likely the voters, like most every other thing put to vote, will get this wrong.

no one will read all of that, analyze it all, and take it all in seriously, for 12 teams .. just won't happen.

I'm sensing that too. Like it's just a popularity contest amongst the players we picked. I can argue that Dominique Wilkins' shooting percentage is 5 points higher than Kobe's with the same amount of usage, even when he was guarded by forwards, but it won't make any difference.

Edit: I shouldn't say that -- Kobe got up to 47% shooting for a few seasons.

I could pick Rondo and say his assist-to-turnover ratio is higher than other guards in the playoffs, but people will just say Russell Westbrook has more offense.

We'll go 10 still, unless most change their minds and want to do 8.

I'm with franklin about the strategy stuff, even though not everyone will read those things.

I'd like to discuss Numb's pick in the down time. To support what I will put into matchup considerations, he already had a top two way player in Duncan & a lesser one in Zo.

-Always an efficient player, but a better scorer and more athletic than remembered in his earlier years

Please convince me, cause I tried to convince myself & would have played it the same. But his offensive stats just don't support it. Vid kind of does though. I honestly was happy he & a couple others went over my favored picks, but I'd love to hear the argument for why I was wrong. Mutombo is treated like Shawn Bradly at times, & that's plain wrong (as well as Bradley's underrated defensive impact).

We are the voters, & Cyrone, NAOS, YB, a few others. It might be different at other forums but people here are proud of what they put into their thought process.

Maybe we could keep voting closed for a set amount of time & let everyone argue it over? In reality, who's going to take Pierce over Worthy without any team concept? It was too close for me to decide between the two (who weren't available when I picked) so why would anyone else in the contest auto one or the other?

Also, what about specialty matchups who will kill on one end & be killed on the other? There are only a handful of guys with a both way resume.

^^^ hahahhaa .. "proud of what we put into the thought process"

denial .. this site is no different from any other sub-sect.
