What's new

Three missed FG's and fumble returned for a TD.

Negg yourself for not having a very high football IQ as well, Moron. I forget that you're great for talking smack but when it comes to X's and O's and stuff like that you're dumb. My bad.

So your saying Roscoe HAS won big games before?

That's a very good question, one which many people were asking today, and one which I really don't know the answer to. One the one hand, BYU has a policy of not playing on Sunday. They clearly would never have scheduled a game for Sunday.

On the other hand, BYU also believes very strongly in honoring its commitments. Having integrity is a commandment just like keeping the Sabbath day holy is. And BYU had a commitment to play the game as it was scheduled. That strongly implies a commitment to FINISH the game. And because of the partnership with ESPN and their broadcast, this is more than just a commitment to the other team and the people there to watch the game.

It would actually have been kind of a lose-lose situation. Either way there are MANY people who would have complained.

Personally I believe the commitment aspect would have won out and they would have completed the game. But who really knows?

I think about 5 years ago I read about one of the BYU teams (volleyball?) that had a similar situation, albeit without huge numbers of fans and no TV broadcast. The game went late on a Saturday night. If I recall correctly the coach let the players decide what to do, and the players voted to stop playing and consequently forfeit the game. So again, who knows what would have happened this time.

Apparently people at BYU had thought about this and had already decided that they WOULD have continued the game (as I said I felt was most likely).

"Obviously, BYU’s policy is that we will not schedule and play games on Sunday," said Duff Tittle, BYU associate athletic director for communications. "If a game begins on Saturday and goes past the 12 o’clock hour, we will complete the game."

BYU has talent, but no discipline, which is quite ironic since Bronco always preaches discipline, position mastery, personal accountability, and execution in just about every interview.

It's already been mentioned. The neg rep should be more for letting your bias label the styles of Dungy and Bronco as different. They are very similar in their approaches. I've talked with people that have worked with both closely and they say the same thing. Dungy had the same label until he started winning. He has no pulse blah blah blah. But now he is calm and poised. He didn't change a thing but all the sudden peoples' perception of him changed. Like I said, stick to smack talk.

And keep in mind while both Dungy and Bronco may not look fired up, they both make sure they have guys on their staff who fill that role.

I would say they lack poise. And I don't know how that is ironic. Players do stuff their coaches tell them not to do all the time. And that lack of poise is mostly on offense where they have a raw OC at the controls. On the defensive side BYU shows tremendous poise. You have to running that bend but don't break defense Bronco loves.

On the subject of the personal fouls, Bronco said that often times confident and aggressive play can sometimes lead to the personal fouls. I think Whit, and most other coaches in the country would tell you that stupidy/lack of discipline is what usually leads to personal fouls (just ask the McBride era Utes). How any BYU fan can be ok with Bronco's opinion on this is beyond me.

Sooooo. Dungy won a Super Bowl and Roscoe won the Maaco Las Vegas bowl. Got it.

I think what Bronco said is true to some extent. But aggressive play with discipline may get only one or two per year. It's the lack of discipline that gets you one or two per game.
