Romney Fundraiser - Secret Taping

Simple questions.

When have trickle down economics (ever) worked?

If they worked so well, then why has the middle-class disappeared and job creation here sucked so bad over the past 12 years?

Let's just all come together and admit that Al Gore is boring. The hot air from Gore on stage is the #1 contributor to climate change.

Also, good for Willard for coming out with a quick presser, "Not Elegantly Stated"--at least he's getting in front of it.

I've never understood the right's obsession with Al Gore.

He ran for President over a decade ago and he lost. So why are we still talking about him?

Ok... So he has advocated that we take care of the planet.

Gee, what a horrible person. How dare we ever consider our actions on mother earth. Duh. Everyone knows that God gave us the earth to destroy. Duh.

Would it be better if he lied about WMDs and forced us into a war resulting in the slaughter of thousands of people and loss of billions of dollars?

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

And I guarantee you in the next 48 hours he'll flip flop again.

Has Willard had a consistent thought for more than a day? I mean... Other than his obsession with getting into the White House? We all know that he'll do anything and everything to get there.

His recent comments on HC were just plain hilarious. I haven't laughed so hard since Newt talked about the importance of family values.

Perhaps it wasn't Obama himself, but in 2008, I distinctly remember hearing HIS WIFE give a speech where she stated "This is the first time in my adult life that I'm proud of my country."

She was 44 at the time. If her husbands nomination (or whatever it was) was the first thing that made her proud of her country, why the heck would I want them in the white house? To me, that was the ultimate insult anyone in the political spotlight can say.

.

Michelle Obama isn't running for anything. And if a statement like that turned you off enough for you not to vote for her husband, I don't have a problem with that. But stating a opinion about your own personal feelings growing up is not remotely the same as writing off half the country that you are trying to become the president of.

Not a week goes by that I don't have at least 3 or 4 people approach me and ask for a car, money, whatever .. 90% are just looking for a handout. I tell them no, politely. I also ask if they'd like an opportunity. Those same people find a creative way of saying no thanks...

Have any opportunities for a Salt Lake Citizen that has worked 15 jobs in as many years and finds it inconceivable that anyone will hire him because of that, and that he randomly has to get up and leave for 6 weeks at a time and sometimes for 6 months cumulatively over a year but will give you everything he's got just to have some semblance of security in his life? He's also survived off of <$10k a year for every year of his life and isn't in debt, for whatever that is worth.

That was seriously one of the hardest +24's I've ever had to give.

Ya, but can he play drums? I heard your cymbal work could, uh, use some work. Sorry pal, not interested.

if you do. Again, I'm no fan of Romney, but having been around politics a little bit (lowest level, I know, but just go with it) I am starting to believe that the majority of people that run for public office DO have the best interests of the people they represent in mind. I don't know Romney's mind, but who's to say that deep in his heart he doesn't want to get elected simply to help that 47ish percent get off of Gov't aid and help themselves? In a world of bipartisan dog fighting, maybe the other side isn't as evil as you think. Just my two cents.

Once again, I wasn't thinking evil when he said what he said. I don't think Mitt Romney is evil. I was thinking *** hole. Statements like that clearly illustrate that he's too small for the job.

My cymbal work is irrelevant. My friend is thinking about working on his, though, although he's not sure how to bring the fury and use fluttery technique simultaneously.

Sorry if I misunderstood what was being said. I agree with you, thus, I won't be voting for him.

Frickin' Mormons.

Tell your friend to start doing "the stranger" during "sex", it'll do amazing things to your off-hand. You'll be fury'ing and fluttery'ing in your sleep, yo.

Gee, I wonder if Obama's team is going to play the hell out of this quote especially since Romney played the hell out of the "You Didn't Build This" quote.

Though I'm guessing that you Utahans have the luxury of not hearing a campaign ad every 10 seconds as opposed to living in Colorado.

While I actually agree with Romney to a certain extent, I don't think all 47% of democrats are dependent on the government. Obviously he was swept up in the moment and made a dumb remark, but I will say this, I would pay more credence to Romney's economic stances if he were self-made. It's almost become a cliche' parable that rich people beget rich people. I really don't think talent is totally genetic, things like diligence, patience, and luck play into it, but despite this, wealth does seem to be generationally contiguous. I do think that wealth in many cases has become a closed system for certain families despite the outcry for a merit-based society.

This video and Obama's "you did not build it" nonsense is really just a derivative of the central theme of this campaign, which is the absurd argument about taxation. It is the only "real" difference between the parties, at least in terms of differences they can sell to large groups of their supporters. This debate has been building for years, mainly because both have two main traits in common..they will never accept responsibility for anything and really have no new ideas. The Republicans use taxes as their ace in the bullpen, when all else fails call for tax cuts. The faithful will goose step in line even though 95% of those that vote republican can't tell you the first thing about the tax code. The Democrats use taxes as the mother of all cause and effects to keep the faithful in line. The Dems are always one extra tax dollar away from nirvana.

It is an unfortunate debate that end of the day will not improve anybody's lives regardless of outcome, yet nearly every single voter takes the bait.

The left vs right dichotomy is going to ruin this country. If we were being honest with ourselves would any of us really vote for either party? For instance, lets talk the national debt. One party wants to raise taxes and spending, the other wants to reduce taxes and spending. Does either of those options sound anything like a true debt reduction plan? If you were serious about eliminating debt wouldn't you want to raise taxes and reduce spending? Could it be that both parties are partially correct?

So people are impoverished because of a lack of personal responsibility?!?!

**** you Mitt Romney.

Some are yes. 47% no but some people yea.

Edit: is the 47% figure those who do not pay taxes? Does that include those gaming the self employment tax exemptions and low income workers (such as single mothers working as waitresses) that get all the taxes they paid back?

What most Americans are blind to, and is a sad reality of our country is, the false dichotomy of the two-party system.

Both the left and the right act (sometimes in unison and sometimes haphazardly) toward a larger plan of action. Republicans charm the conservative population with their talk of "family" and a "strong military". Democrats woo the liberal population with promises of better social programs and more benefits for minorities. Behind the talk, however, both parties diligently fleece the public while creating massive wealth, influence, and power for the ruling class. Both.
