Gambling Wins & Losses

I won my football office pool twice - both times was about $500

Earlier this year I won $500 on the last game of the season between The Spurs and Warriors.

My favorite story is my wife's friends younger sister won 50K on a single scratch off ticket - 30 something thousand after taxes. She blew every last dime in under a year.

This is no ****. My uncle, who was a founder of compuserv (did not need the money), bought one lottery ticket in his life .. One. Got snowed in at an airport in the NE, bored, bought a $1 ticket. Won $330,000. He thought that was cool.. Never bought one since.

Lost about 30K over the years. One night in college, I won $3,200. Went through Dan Pastorini's service in Vegas (I was a dumb college kid) and he gave me three NBA picks, all of which won. He was on fire, actually starting 7-0 for me. Then the NBA playoffs rolled around, his choices limited each night, and he sucked. Big time. Too many $500-$1,000 wagers to remember. I did win on USC when they upset Oklahoma in the title game. UO was being talked about as the greatest team ever, everyone was doing them and I won big going the other way.

Blew it on gambling or buying fun stuff?

Whenever I go to gamble I set aside a limit (lets say 60 bucks). If my losses reach that limit I get up and walk away. If I win a large amount (say 500.00) I put 50%f of it in my bank account right off the top. then use the rest to fund the rest of my trip.

I have never won more that 300 and never lost more than 60.

My wife once took a suitcase from this hot girl with the help of a bald dude, then sold that suitcase to a banker for like a quarter of a million dollars!!

A real coup would have been to get the hot girls number as well. You have let me down!

I should have mentioned she was about 20 years old at the time and lived with her parents and drove her parents hand-me-down car. I think she was in some community college but her parents paid all the bills.

She blew it all on partying/treating her friends - no trips, no big purchases that I know of.

She got a lot of **** for it but what the hell - you're only young once.

Had a friend do something similar with an 80k insurance settlement when he was about 18. Nothing cool to show for it. Just a bunch of dumb ****.
