ROUND 11) Enes Kanter

Here it is jazzfanz, the return of Utah Jazz Survivor.

The game is pretty simple. Each round you will vote one player off the team. This will help determine who jazzfanz considers to be the Jazz' best assets.

Things to consider:

Length and terms of contract, player's potential, player's trade value.

For example, Big Al might be a better NBA player than Enes Kanter at this moment, but who is more valuable to the Jazz as an asset?

This came down to Burks and Millsap. Largely out of appreciation for Millsap's contributions to the team and his consistent year-to-year improvement, I voted for Burks.

Lets hope this same sentiment doesn't lead to the Jazz overpaying for Millsap like we did AK and Okur.

I think having a new GM will help to prevent that from happening, although in the case of AK I would have to think that potential played a big factor in his max contract since he had only played 3 seasons. The Jazz essentially know what Millsap is capable of and that he will likely continue to get incrementally better at least for a few more years.

EDIT: Also, in the case of Okur, the main reason I would even consider him overpaid is that he turned 30 a couple of months before signing the extension. He was coming off a very solid year. And in the end, considering how Memo struggled to come back after the injury, KOC did a nice job of dumping his salary on the Nets. Of course, Portland ended up being the biggest beneficiary by getting the unprotected draft pick in the trade that sent Memo to Portland.

I can't believe people are voting Burks off before Millsap. Millsap is bad ***, but Burks is our future. Burks is going to be really good.

Millsap is a great player, but he is what he is-- an undersized PF. He can score, but he'll always be a defensive liability. I don't even want to imagine how much Millsap will struggle against Pau/Howard.

I would think Millsap would have an easier time guarding Howard than he would guarding Bynum, though he is never going to guard either.

And next year once he proves it he won't get my vote until later on in this game.

Why would anybody vote Burks over Hayward is beyond understanding. To me he has way more potential then Hayward...and he has way more nastiness in his game, call it whatever you like, big balls, heart, winner's mentality, anything...

And yet Hayward has as much potential but has shown more on the court.

Bam.

Don't discount Hayward's toughness and ability to get under opponents' skins. See the West Willy and Aaron Afflalo elbow for reference.

Hayward is more of a unique player, more versatile. Burks might be a better or worse version of Rodney Stuckey.

I though somebody was comparing Burks with Wade. Hayward to me is poor man's Harpring with better passing but worst rebounding skills.
