Since I started all of this, this is why I am not as high on Burks as others.
In the first half last night, when Burks was playing against NBA players, he was a -4 on the floor. He played out of control, and wasn't in position defesively to help Utah.
In the fourth quarter last night, when Burks was playing against D-Leaguers, he was all world.
He has a ton of potential. It is also pretty clear why he isn't playing over Foye. He isn't going to get those calls against starting NBA guys, and it takes his best asset and makes it negligible.
Burks could be very, very good. But he needs to learn to pass better, to not take it to the hoop every time he touches it, play better defense, get better at hitting the three (though his preseason #'s are amazing), etc, etc, etc. In his defense though, he didn't get a preseason and training camp last year so he is behind where a normal rookie should be. If he can be more of a team player, his minutes will skyrocket.

The only real negative thing I see with Burks is that sometimes he is too overly anxious to make something happen when he gets the ball.
I think it's one of the thing holding him back from taking minutes from Foye. He needs to show a little more maturity out there and pick his spots. I think (hope) that will come with more minutes. I think he thinks he has to prove himself right when he gets on the court, and that hurts his performance sometimes.

A lot of people have been saying that about Westbrook for the last two years in the playoffs haven't they? No one has called him a bust, I just said I could possibly see him becoming a Jamal Crawford type player. Lots of shots, lots of points. Or he could become a killer two guard and could be great. Or he could be very average his whole career. There are a ton of possibilities.

He has already proved you wrong. He's way beyond Jamal Crawford.
He's already had multiple All-Star appearances, two gold medals, etc. So, what is it you were trying to say?
My post wasn't about what KennyKnuts said. It was about the fact that Westbrook had gigantic question marks for a couple of years. I just don't see the point in complaining when a young player breaks his man down with his own dribble and then makes a mistake. At least he has the potential to break his man down--which, on this jazz team, is a rare skill.
