Game #1: Jazz vs Mavericks, 10/31/12 - 7:00 PM MST - Root Sports, 1280 AM/97.5 FM

One other thought. Our team is not lost on the offensive side of the ball if Jefferson is not in the game.

All the Al homers pointed to that fact as the reason that he must stick around and last night proved to me that we now have capable scorers that can win us games and that the talent we have sitting on the bench can be used more and more without the worry of a giant drop off in offensive production.

One game does not a season make.

Here is a thought for everyone that thinks myself and anyone that is complaining about the lack of minutes that Burks got are out of control.

When I listen to those that played for all time great coaches in any sport there seems to be one thing in common. The coach never stops coaching. No matter where they are at in the game the coach wants every player to be playing their best.

IMO, Corbin gave up on Burks last night. It was easier and more comfortable to put Tinsley in there so that he didn't have to coach as much. Burks is a better player, period. Burks gives the Jazz a better chance to win, period. It was a lazy and stupid coaching move to let Burks sit on the bench until garbage time.

Corbin's message was very clear: Burks is not part of the regular rotation.

agree the other poster that chalked that game to playing the Pistons, regardless its still a big game

I did give him credit for a big game but I will be more impressed when he does it against a playoff type team. His team won and Harden had a monster game which is what matters.

We were getting ripped at the half. I'm ok if our wings don't get time since they have not demonstrated to me that they have earned the time over the vets., i.e., that they are even equal to them. It's not the certain with the bigs since Favors and Kanter are such a great defensive pair and adequate on offense.

Well I guess you missed the preseason because Burks completely outplayed Foye. Isn't Foye suppose to earn his minutes?

So in watching Mo last night and in some of the presesaon games, I've noticed that he has a tendency to take what are in my opinion too many jumpers off the dribble before really getting into the offense. It's not like he's shooting over a double team or anything like that, but he's not exactly wide open either. Some nights he'll be hot and make them, but is he going to keep taking those kind of shots when he's off?

Foye has earned his minutes by producing in the NBA for a few years (not a great player but he has shown he can hang) Alec played decent last year in limited minutes and had a very good preseason, but its only preseason. Foye has done more to show he can play than Alec has thus far.

But the Jazz won so why are you complaining?

Foye was playing hard D and looked very good catching and shooting. This guy was a big part of the win.

Both Williams' look to be perfect fits for what Corbin is doing. These guys make the Jazz a lot better.

Al played his best team D in a long long time if not ever in the 3rd quarter, including that unlikely steal/break. I missed most of the first half but it sure looks like he kept the boat afloat with his work on the glass while the team got worked in the first half.

Kanter/Favors looked confident but combined for 7 turnovers in 32 minutes. Both of these guys will improve over this year passing and making moves without traveling or fouling. Really liked seeing some fire from Favors, used to it from Enes already. For the record count me as the latest person to chime in on how much Eddy Curry sucks. Kanter was laughing at him.

Burks was listed as a pg on ESPN's box score. He or Foye need to play at that spot, or somebody else must be traded for. I like Tinsley insofar as what he is, a vet who will run the offense, but as the players become more natural within it a pure point will become less mandatory and a shooter more so.

Just to note my pet prospect JV logged a double double with zero turnovers in 23 minutes his first NBA game. Nice start.

He also took a shot on the chin and got nearly knocked out. Kanter was much better than JV in that he took a shot, got bloody, then stitches. Advantage Kanter.

Yeah, those kind of made me mad too. A lot of them seemed like "Heat Check" kind of moments though. You have to take the good with the bad though, not all players are perfect and shooting with that kind of confidence is what makes Mo such a great shooter.

All Burks not playing aside, I loved the way we won the game last night. We pounded them in the interior, then started nailing 3's when they started packing the paint.

Also nice to see us manhandle a team on the boards.

I'm emailing the Jazz FO asking that they move tomorrows game up to tonight. Want to see my Jazz again.

I was one that felt we needed him for last year, but also on record as saying we should trade him this year or let him expire at years end. If the jazz are unable to trade him by the deadline I want to see his role diminished, but still start. I do agree that our offense would be fine with out the big fella.

Haha. I didn't realize Yoda was a member of jazzfanz.

The key here is you missed most of the first half, because Dallas drove down the middle many times and Al didn't even bother to lift a finger. As good as he was in the second half he was 10 times worse in the first.
Lol not a complaint so much as an observation. I'll upgrade it to a complaint when he shoots poorly in a loss.

I have no problem with what you said about Mo. I agree, however that's his game, even on an off night he still needs to play his game, because Mo is a gamer and has a knack of turning a bad game into a good one. He has the same mentality Malone had. He never stoped playing his game even on an off night. There was only one shot I had a problem with, that Mo took.

Just got home from a 3 country trip.

About to watch the game, and kick back with a Austrian pony keg of some Märzen.

Reading through this thread I'm not too excited to watch this game. Doesn't seem like there was too many highlight plays.
