What's new

Following potential 2013 draftees

Monday practice report:

Calipari continues experimenting with a big lineup.

Archie Goodwin running point.
Julius Mays at SG
Poythress
Willie Cauley-Stein
Nerlens Noel

Archie has led UK in scoring in every scrimmage of the year. It's only scrimmages, but Cal's practices are intense and every one includes refs calling the games. Archie is averaging 30pts, 4rbs, and 4asts per 36. I haven't seen anything more than a few clips yet, but watching Archie play point is obviously something I'm keying on. I asked one of the assistants if Archie was going to get real in-game opportunities to play point this year and his answer was it's a 100% certainty.

Noel coming along very quickly. It's early, but I would guess that Nerlens Noel and WCS or the 2nd and 3rd best shot-blockers, all-time, at UK .. next to Davis, of course.

Poythress is struggling a little bit the last few days, but it's obvious he's got major game. I'm going to be that if we get the 7th pick, we're going to be able to get him .. I'm guessing he goes 6 - 8.

Would love to get Poythress or Goodwin (especially if he can play PG). But just to clarify, the highest pick we can get this year is 8th. There seems to be a lot of misunderstandings about this.

Yeah, I was looking at the next draft. 8 it is.

UK's first actual game tonight (exhibition, but at least it's not a game against each other). Will share how the players look.

This is probably the silliest thread in all of Jazzfanz.

Let the discussion begin... you know... ONCE WE SEE SOME OF THEM PLAY FOR THE FIRST TIME.

Not sure I agree. It's not like everyone being discussed are to-be freshmen. Some are collegiate returnees.
Also, try telling NBA scouts it's stupid to watch and project HS students .. because they do.

I'm not sure it's any less relevant than any other thread, since we're likely picking up 2 or 3 more picks in '13.

You're one of the best posters here, but I've got to disagree with you on this one.
