I agree - he shouldn't have said anything. He has other things to worry about that are far more important than where a place of worship is being built.
Uh? Who said anything about lying?
Do you really think that standing up for "freedom" and allowing that Mosque to be built will score him more points in the United States of America than if he told them no?

Frankly, other than shock tactics, I've yet to see anyone explain why that mosque should not be built.
Obama's saying that Muslims have the right to build a mosque tells us absolutely NOTHING that we don't already know. The fact that he said it while addressing a muslim crowd may tell us something about "why" he said it.
But why would a President, the leader of the U.S. people, refuse to comment on the "wisdom" of Muslims creating such a mocking and derisive "memorial?" That's what I find puzzling.
Why stress empty tautologies (you have the right to do what you have the right to do) to a muslim crowd, implying approval, but then refuse to address the substance? Sumthin aint right here, if ya ax me.
...besides it being none of his business whether it's a good idea. Should the President be giving opinions on all religious building?
It's not "his business" to tell a muslim crowd it's legal, either. They know that. Why say anything at all, if it's "not his business?"
Huh? The "truth" is that according to our constitution, according to what is "right" and according to the principles of freedom, liberty and religious tolerance, we shouldn't ban people from building religious structures on private property as long as it doesn't violate local ordinances or zoning requirements.
Besides that you seem to be terribly confused. Obama made a statement based on the principle that people can build any brand of religious institution on private property. The ability for this mosque to be built did not hinge on his approval. His comments were certainly related to the issue created by this particular mosque, but not related to his feelings about the building of this particular mosque. Again, Obama has no role in deciding if this mosque is built or not. He did not make a "decision" to allow it to be built. You understand that, right?
This may hurt his standing among simpletons and religious bigots. If that is what makes up the majority of voters then we have much worse problems than a moasque being built several blocks from the site of one of our nations greatest tragedies.
Score points with who?

Look, 9/11 was an attack planned out by all the Muslims in the world. They all got together in this little conference room and were like, "Hey guys... we gotta kill some Americans." And now they're planting a place of worship there?! Terrible. The only thing I want in that space is a place for American worship. You know, hard, unsoiled Christianity.
Plus, like Thriller, I would prefer it if Obama pandered to the votes of people who hate all Muslims than say the "right thing".

Does this guy think he's funny?
Who is the little bitch in this thread that gave me negative rep and called me a liberal idiot?
I won't argue with you. But you should stand behind your statements and identify yourself.
It is funny. You look at the picture, imagine a guy from Provo that prb was your denmother's husband, and read what he types. Hilarious!
