Deron's last season in Utah?

I'm not trying to yell fire in a theater or cause undue panic, but you do realize this could be the last season for Deron in a Jazz uniform? There are a few things that have to play out of course.

One, his current deal goes through the 2012 season with a player option for another year. Second, and probably the biggest factor is the impending lockout coming next summer. A lot can change between now and then but it certainly seems like we're going to be missing some NBA come next season. Whether it turns out to be like the 1999 lockout remains to be seen. But if we miss the whole season, this could very well be Deron's last in Utah.

No need to panic yet. However, if Deron joins LRMR Markting, then you can panic.

Other fun facts from a recent interview...

- Deron no longer lives in Utah in summer (used to, but no longer)
- Not playing in the dodgeball tournament this year (except for final game)
- Discontinuing the dodgeball tournament next year (despite increased popularity this year)
- Deron to return to training camp later than usual this year (despite significant changes in the roster)

Ok I will bite.
Deron no longer lives in Utah in summer (used to, but no longer) Many NBA players live other places. When you are rich you can live in multiple places. Using this thinking AK, Memo etc should have bolted already.

- Not playing in the dodgeball tournament this year (except for final game) DW has been injured and he mentioned the physical toll the tournament had on his body last year. Perhaps he was just being cautious.

- Discontinuing the dodgeball tournament next year (despite increased popularity this year)Perhaps he wants to go in another direction with his charity. Korver left so that might have something to do with it. Perhaps the size of the event might be getting too big for his taste. Who knows? I really do not see how this makes one think DW is planning on leaving Utah.

- Deron to return to training camp later than usual this year (despite significant changes in the roster). Perhaps DW had previous commitments prior to the Jazz making these changes. Again his injuries might be part of why this might be true. I haven't heard anything about DW reporting late to training camp. I remember reading some comments about AJ moving to Utah this month so he can work out with the team/DW. Besides I worry more about AJ learning the offense than the chemistry between DW and AJ.

In the end DW will make the best decision for himself, worrying about it is a waste of emotion. Certainly if he leaves it will be devastating to the franchise but the Jazz will survive. I'd rather worry about how the Jazz are going to do this year than worry about something I have no control over.

That's way too rational for jazzfanz.

Try some like this:

"OMGZ, STFU YOU IDIOT, YOUR PROBABLY A FAT ROCKET FAN WHO GOES TO MCDONALdS FOR BREAKFAST, LUNCH, AND DINNER! GET THE **** OUT FAT ****!

or

"OMGZ, I'm hope not. I love dwill. That's why my screename is dwillasarusthegreatness_8_simplythebestturner dammit, why do the franchise have to be in Utar! all athletes hate Utah. it's so white and mormony. NO nightlife...at all! Alchohol is so WEEAK. you cant EVEN get Drunk. I love the jazz but them being in utarr is so aggravating. Let's take this to the awesome state of los Vegas! That will attradct the big names so we can stay compettitive with the piss yellow FAKERZ. Please don't leave DWILL, we love you. and why don't we change our name too some like the bees or something form Jazz. Its embarrasing, ever knows there's no jazz in utarrr, LOLZ."

This is so critical that it warranted it's own thread, in addition to your comments in the Carmelo thread?

You need to sit down, take a deep breath, and relax. What will happen will happen.

I think it may be prudent to see how this season works out before we declare the departure of Deron Williams.

/fixed

Gives meaning to Kevin O'Connor's draft night vision:

"The only thing I can say is that in two years, I hope you're not booing."

A 6'8" John Stockton? Jerry Sloan's wet dream?

/ducks

you must have a zero basketball iq. Put him at pg and watch the rose, rondos, westbrookes and walls use and abuse him. Just cause one might have point guard skills does not make them a point guard. You ever heard of a point forward? Scottie Pippen was one. If this kid is your startign pg you will struggle tyo win 15 games all year. Love message boards cuz you see how much knowledge people really have..lmao

stopped reading there.

so where does dwill plan on going? There is talks about dallas but why? If the jazz keep winning then dwill will stay but does paying a max contract to a pg keep the jazz from going all the way as well? I just hope with the owners they force a hard cap to stop all this crap and talk. Too many egos in the nba that is going to have a backlash from fans one day.

Lakers Trade: Luke Walton, Sasha Vujacic, Steve Blake

Jazz Trade: Deron Williams

don't forget to add a old fisher in the trade as well to make the Max CONTRACT work. Why would the jazz trade for that crap as well when they would rather have him walk . Jazz also have a lot of money that year and plus there are other great fa that year that jazz could get if he does walk.

1. If next season is lost, it's unlikely the players would be credited with a year against their contracts.
2. Dodgeball: it was Kyle's baby. No Korver and Deron has "been there, done that." Count on some lesser known Jazz players to carry on the tournament going forward.
3. Deron was told to rest the wrist. He's not playing for USA basketball either.

4. IMO, the new CBA might actually HELP the Jazz retain Deron. You gotta think most NBA owners don;t want to see a repeat of this past off-season. I think there will be even greater incentives available to platyers who re-sign with their original teams.

5. Lastly, let me ask you just one question. With time winding down, the Jazz down by 2, who do you want taking that last shot - Deron or Sundiata? Deron is Ricky Green. Sundiata is John Stockton.

Millsap-Jefferson-Evans-Hayward-Gaines. That's championship stuff!

Like it's hard to fuel the anxiousness of the typical Jazz fan...

Non event, non story. Nothing to see here. Enjoy your weekend.
