What's new

Jamal Crawford

Trade Memo.

Of course the Hawks wouldn't want Memo (at least with his injury), but that's all I'd offer.

I'd rather have AK's Bird Rights and whatever pick that would be than Crawford's Bird Rights and Marvin Williams.

I might be out of touch, but I haven't seen anything from Marvin Williams that's impressed me.

And Crawford is treading in dangerous waters by demanding an extension or trade. He knows just like everyone knows that he's at a point in his career where he's going to start to decline and wants security (all exacerbated by the current CBA set to expire). He's taking his existing reputation as a chucker that plays no D and adding into that a malcontent prima donna and that all adds up to a guy that's not a team player.

To his credit, he's one of the best chuckers that plays no D in the NBA.

But it seems to me that Crawford is going to demand an extend-and-trade and that's a no-win for any team. Either a team extends a player that doesn't play a winning game that's on his decline, or a team doesn't extend and has to deal with his crap when he doesn't get his way.

I wouldn't touch Crawford at this stage. He's a tumor.

I have been following Jamal Crawford his entire career. I am a Michigan Wolverine fan and I even have a jersey of him. He is a very coachable player. He listens to his coaches. Larry Brown was the only player he praised when he was with New York. Crawford has very good dribbling skills and has a good outside shot. He is a good playmaker but that part of his game is very streaky.

All that said. He is a chucker and he doesn't shoot within the offense. But you also have to look at the teams he has played for. He was not a chucker when Larry Brown was coaching him. He actually played very well and constantly listened. I think he would listen to Sloan also. But with his history he does shoot some bad shots. He finally got a lot better last year at shot selection. That is why his percentage went way up compared to his career.

Crawford and his agent know his shooting percentage most likely not go up even more. So that is why he is demanding a contract. He is not a pre madonna though or a cancer on a team. Never had off the court issues. Never been a player to create problems in the locker room. I met him at the Rocky Mountain review multiple times when he was with the bulls. I actually sat and talked to him for about 15 minutes after a game. He is a very humble guy actually. But he is a business man and I don't blame him for asking for a contract now.

But he does not play defense at all. When he gives effort he is a little above average but he doesn't always do that. I personally think he shouldn't make more than 6 or 7 Million a year as a combo guard off the bench (Playing back up point and SG). I would only sign him to a 3 year extension though. I wouldn't mind him on the Jazz but I wouldn't trade anyone for him besides Okur.
