Official Warrior Watch: Draft Pick and Playoff Positioning

This may or may not be true. But keep in mind that's without Kanter playing. If he had been able to play for UK, I really doubt he would have fallen to 3 for us.

Where do you think he'd go in 2012 if you assume that he hadn't been playing college ball at all up to that point? I think he'd go behind Drummond. (It's sad, but Drummond man-handled Kanter during 2012 the Summer League, so it's safe to assume he would have done the same thing during various workouts).

And Kanter also manhandled Cousins once while he as at UK.

I asked PKM before the start of the 2011-12 season to predict the stats of the UK players and he was almost spot on. I later asked him what he thought Kanter would have averaged and he said 18/15. I'll let him change that answer if he wants, but lets say he averaged between 15-18 points, 12-15 rebounds, I seriously doubt a guy averaging 10/7 (Drummond) would have gone first, even if he does possess more upside.

If Kanter had been able to play for UK and was in the 2012 draft, I think he would have been top 3.

My assumption was more if the 2012 talent were eligible in 2011, where would Kanter go.. It's hard to see him going before Barnes at 7th.. so my guess was 8th.

Assuming the 2012 talent were available in 2011, but we're going off of where he went in 2012? What kind of **** time machine are you using bro?

I bet Cleveland would have taken Kanter with the 4th overall pick in 2012 draft. I think they were pretty interested in Kanter and were hoping for him to drop past the Jazz in 2011.

Also, Cleveland sucks *** at drafting.

Should have taken Jonas in 2011 and Barnes in 2012.

No doubt. I even remember reading an article on nba.com about whether Irving/Kanter could be Cleveland's next one-two punch.

Sounds like Warriors are getting in on the Josh Smith trade talk. I actually think that makes them worse depending on what they give up to get him.

I know they've dropped quite a few games lately, but I think it's too late for them to tank into the 6th pick.
Or, maybe they've already cut a deal with Stern. He gets all the free blow he wants in Oakland in return for them moving up from #14 to one of the top 3 darft positions.

The pick is still top 7 protected I think. I just want them to miss the playoffs because I hate them, and it makes our pick slightly better.

Well, there's virtually no chance they could even slide into the top-10. Detroit is 21-33, so that's a 10-game lead for GS. Ideally, I'd like to see them make the playoffs with the worst record, guaranteeing Utah the 15th pick. I don't think there's a lot of difference between the 15th seed and, say, the 13th...except for the chance that the 13th pick moves up into the top-3 and then GS gets to keep it.
