What's new

Utahr at Timberwimps - Lame Thread - 6pm MT

Enes needs to train with a ball handler and train to recieve different speed and distance passes. Otherwise he will never eat his fruit from running the fastbreaks and he will never be a go-to-guy.

Nice work by the vets to close that game out, especially Watson. NOT! That was a very very ugly end and the Jazz were very close to snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Watson was atrocious: turnovers, bad shots, not getting them into any offense. I sure am glad we have these vets to rely on, clearly the youngsters could not hold a 13 point lead for 3 minutes.

It will be difficult to keep him from a financial standpoint with Marvin opting in and Burks and Hayward needing more playing time. So I see the Jazz getting outbid and I'd there is a slight chance he is moved at the deadline.

I don't think so. Carroll deserves the solid role player vet contract like raja bell's 3 mil per. I think he knows this is an ideal situation for him too.

I will be PISSED if we don't keep Carroll this season. It'll be like Wes Matthews all over again :(

Carroll proved me wrong. He is not some energy scrub who should be used sparingly. He's a rotation guy who has faults, but finds ways to positively impact games. He's a keeper.

I agree. I love his fight, heart and attitude. I loved that he got in Durants grill over Burks. That is what I want in my Jazz. Hard, physical basketball that is full of heart. When you touch one of them you have to deal with every single one that steps on the court.

Join the crowd. I was dead wrong abotu Carroll as well. I was underwhelmed last season and still had some real doubts after he talked about wanting to go somewhere he could be a starter. I just didn't see him as starter-quality. But I no longer hold my breath when he shoots. As long as he's the 3rd or 4th option, I have no problem seeing him start. Not everyone can get touches as starters. But Carroll finds opportunities and enjoys doing the dirty work. We once had a player like that (Millsap).

Carroll is capable of playing a role similar to Bryon Russel with the 90s Jazz--intense defense, runs out on the break, hits open jumpers, etc.

I liked Demare's the first game I saw him play; no idea why others were negative on him.

I don't think anyone needs to be groveling over the fact that they were down on Carroll at one point - he had done absolutely nothing in his career up to the point Utah signed him. He couldn't shoot to save his life last season and I thought he did more running around on defense than actually accomplishing anything.

I was glad when they re-signed him merely on the fact that he had heart and huslte; but I thought he should be forced to earn minute 1. And he's done that. He's a much better shooter this year and he plays smarter defense. Jazz should consider themselves lucky that he came into his own while he was in Utah and they should look to lock him up with a modest multi-year deal.

What's Carolle's next contract?
3 years at $3.5 mill each year? Is that too cheap? We need to save money for The Four.

Carroll is eligible for the classic "hustle guy in a good system gets overpaid to go to a mid-tier team where he doesn't produce like he did before" contract.

Maybe he will get reduced a liitle because he will be a FA the same time as about 35% of the other NBA players, but Jazz can't get attached to this guy and so the fans shouldn't either.

9m over 3 years - the Raja deal, would be optimal. If we can keep him for that I would be so happy. He plays so hard.

That block may have been a game altering play.

I thought Kanter's block was at least as impressive, and quite possibly more impressive than Burks'. The one where Kanter got caught out near the 3 pt line on a switch, then realized all of sudden that his guy was undefended under the basket. He started running for the basket even as the ball was passed to the open guy, and managed to get there fast enough to block the shot and redeem himself. I jumped off my chair.

Yep, way too cheap. I predict he'll get offered in the $5M range. He's good enough to be a starter on many teams, or at worst a 6th-man type.
