Tribune Artivle On How To Build Jazz

Getting a Star that totally changes your team to a championship contender is unrealistic. There are only a handful of players like that. Stupid article.

The Jazz are consistently in the playoffs and competing, they have one of the youngest teams in the league. Its not possible to be in title contention every single year. Patience is what is needed.

Just enjoy the damn ride.

Wow Bean. This is actually a solid post.

So if we do resign the 4, and still have room to sign a star, who is coming up in the next two years that we can realistically sign? I doubt Paul or Howard would ever choose Utah, so don't say them. So who do you guys think the jazz targets would be.

Yeah, it's pointless to try to get a star player.

I agee also. Its totally pointless.

Let's never strive to win a championship. We just can't do it here.

Just enjoy the mediocre ride.

Yeeehaaw!!!

Another huge key for small market teams is to get the absolute most out of the talent they have (i.e. proper game management, adjusting schemes to fit your personnel, player development, etc.). You need a good coach to do this. We don't have one and the Jazz aren't in a rush to look for one. End of story.

The two are not mutually exclusive, you can enjoy the ride still while wanting your team to rise out of mediocrity. In the immortal words one of the statues (John) and I'm paraphrasing here but enjoy the journey the lows and the highs of it the hard work of the journey has it's own rewards. If your not enough of a person (fan) without it, you wont be at the completion of the journey (whether you get the championship or not).

Great post. I will rep when I can. Continual mediocrity is frustrating, but I still have a great time watching all the Jazz basketball I can.

the Jazz must find underappreciated players on other rosters that fit their specific needs and be willing to give up assets in the exchange.

Hell, we can't even identify the underappreciated players on our own roster that fit our specific needs and give them playing time.

"find underappreciated players on other rosters that fit their specific needs" - that's what we did when we traded for Marvin Williams, and hasn't that worked out well?

It doesn't take rocket science to see what the Jazz need to do to become a respected playoff contender. We need to throw our young guys into the fire, give them huge minutes, and let them learn. I also believe Tyrone Corbin is not the coach to develop our bigs. I think Jeff Van Gundy, a man who respects the Jazz organization and has coached all-star big men would be perfect. I don't think Corbin commands any kind of respect from our young players because he hasn't earned it. Get some bench pieces or draft picks by trading Millsap AND Jefferson. We won't compete in Free Agency, so putting all of our chips in cap space is stupid.
