To go to jail like Snipes did you have to go on telling the government to go **** themselves for years. The government wants your money - they want you to earn. They don't want to have to pay for you as a guest of the state.

And in case we haven't forgotten:

Holy **** I thought this was a joke. Anyone know for how long or how serious the crime is? When it comes to gov. finances, I'm clueless.

Snipes' crime was federal. The IRS doesn't mess around. Lowe failed to file a state return. I think this definitely hurts the Jazz' playoff chances. Hasn't Lowe been the one working with the bigs, showing them how to hold onto the ball until the double-team arrives?

They think if you don't file your taxes the IRS won't notice and you won't have to pay any taxes. They are completely wrong of course. I had a friends dad that did this for 6 years before getting caught. Then he had to sell almost everything he owned to pay them back with all of the interest and penalties.

With someone making the kind of money he made/makes, it's extremely odd that he filed a Federal return and not a State one. It's hard to chalk this up as some kind of accident or mistake when he did file his Federal returns. I also doubt he was doing his own taxes, so who is advising this guy? I don't want to convict this guy without some more information, but how in the world do you make a mistake of this magnitude when you have so much money at stake? My guess is either he is a tax evader and a criminal, or his accountant is a thief.
