Following potential 2013 draftees

If we get them, I hope you're right. And I'm obviously not saying there won't be some good/great players, I just think its generally weak.

Just started following this Mike Muscala fella. Center out of Bucknell University. Averaging 19.3 PTS, 51.3 FG%, 11.7 REB, 2.8 AST, and only 1.9 TO's. Expected to be a late first round pick.

My draft picks now; Mike Muscala, Andre Roberson, Nate Wolters.
If Trey Burke isn't available by the time we pick I'd like to see the Jazz trade our first round picks to Cleveland for their first round pick (Miami's own 2013 first round pick (very late first round)) their second round pick (3rd) and also their second round pick (4th) for our second round pick (17th). And perhaps one of their 2015 first round picks or 2014 second round picks.

I like all three of those players (particularly Roberson), but I don't want 3 rookies on the roster next season, especially since all four of the Big 4 already need more minutes for their development. Though that could be fixed pending what happens with Sap/Jefferson/Foye/Mo this offseason.

All I really want this offseason is to have our PG of the future on the roster by 2013-2014. If it's Bledsoe, great. Assuming it's not, my guess is it's either Burke or McCollum (my boy).

Personally, I don't think either will be there at the 16-18 range where I envision us drafting first. My hope is to package our two first-rounders to move up to the 8-12 range to find a trade partner (Philly? Minny? Charlotte? Phoenix?) who, based on their current rosters, is not likely looking to draft a PG in the lottery. Hopefully one of those teams is anxious to stockpile young talent rather than take BPA at their slated draft range.

I want Andrew Harrison. Would (Millsap + Burks + UT 2013 pick + GSW 2013 pick) be enough to land us a top 5 in 2014, you think?

I would think that if you sent that to most current teams they would be better than a bottom 5team.

True. Unless it's the Bobcats. LOL...

Actually the Bobcats might bite. They have x2 picks this year already, so that'll make it x4. They desperately need cheap bodies on their team. Millsap gives them someone the players can look up to as an example of a fighter, an ideal role model.

the bobcats have some nice pieces as well imo. but i doubt we'd get anything but trash in a trade.

It's a risky, risky business trading so many assets for a future 1st round pick while 1) banking that a team will remain in the cellar and 2) banking that the "loaded draft" actually materializes. If that pick turned into the #7 or #8 in 2014, and a few of those "can't miss" players go bust, we're kicking ourselves a year from now.

Just stay put and draft CJ. I think he's an All-Star in three seasons.

There's risks and then there's trading with the Bobcats. They're not even remotely the same.

But there's talk about MJ coming back at age 50. If he does, he becomes the best player and someone else is hired for the basketball decisions. That could improve their team substantially.

It seems like a lot of teams are going to want draft picks and cap flexibility in the summer of '14 due to the free-agent class as well as the draft class. If the Jazz can keep cap flexibility next year, they might be able to make a good move or two with teams looking to shed players. In other words, if there isn't a good deal for Sap or Al available now, there's still value in simply letting them expire this summer in order to set us up for a deal next year.

Free agency is still "the big unknown" for us I'd say. Our biggest acquisitions over the past decade have been Okur and Boozer, and with Boozer it was dubious at best with big shenanigans with the Cavs.

Yes OK with the new CBA we might be able to attract more talents, but it's not for sure yet. Indiana had HUGE cap space a few years ago and all they got was David West. Enough said.

That's why we're all pretty excited with the Bledsoe rumour. Its our chance of locking up an exciting young player who's just about to reach his peak (i.e., Harden) without having to sell "Utah" to him.
