OFFICIAL: Trade Deadline Thread

If I go to bed and wake up to see Burks is traded I dunno what I'm going to do. I'm more afraid that they're going to trade Burks than I am that they won't do anything. The way Locke just casually threw him into trade scenarios made me sooo uncomfortable, and I've seen his name pop-up elsewhere. IM TERRIFIED ASLDUAS;ID,ASDASD
If the trade brought back an all-star, sure. I like Burks. He's played well. Look at OKC; they had to give up Green. If trading Burks brings us a starting PG, then do it. But I wouldn't, for example, give up Millsap PLUS Burks for a player like Bledsoe.

So did this already get covered....

Ray Richardson @Twolvesnow 20 Feb
Adelman '90 percent' sure Wolves not making a trade.

Dan Woike @DanWoikeSports All indications right know from the #Clippers are that the team will stand pat at the deadline. As always, that can change.

VDN on trade talks w/ Gary Sacks: "There hasn’t been anything where either one of us has said, ‘That makes sense.’"

?? But the sale of the Kings is reported to be $550 million?

$4m for a talent like Robinson is peanuts.

The Maloofs will soon be gone, so they don't care.
Petrie's in the last year of his contract and will either retire or at least not brought back, so he doesn't care that it's a dumb trade.
The new ownership group is planning to blow everything up anyway, so they don't care about why this makes no sense basketball-wise.

Josh Smith? Seriously? Whatever team gives him a MAX deal will regret it. And the more I see of Howard, the less I'm convinced a team will ever win a championship with him on board. The guy is a diva and mentally fragile.

I agree with you on Howard, but the Rockets with Smith would be incredible.

Problem with Morey's method though, is that, he loves trades too much.

You need stability to build a winning team.

They've been a treadmill team with treadmill talent. Teams in that situation need to be aggressive, ESPECIALLY if they refuse to rebuild/make moves that obviously sacrifice wins in the short-term/tank.

Well the Heats didn't win the championship in their first year. Celtics and Lakers were able to repeat their Finals appearance because they stuck together. You don't see Kupchak trading away Kobe. You don't see Ainge trading away KG, Pierce, etc.

If Morey can keep this group together - good for him. But I get the feeling he gets itchy if he doesn't make a trade at the trade deadline (6th year straight now).

.. so we'll just have to see.

I don't know why I can't just let you embarrass yourself in peace, but are you ****ing serious?

This. There is a reason they are stockpiling assets, to trade them. In this case, I feel like they traded assets for even better assets (or asset I guess) and basically just dumped Morris which I'm still kind of confused about. Too many players?

As far as I can tell. You can only have so many late lottery picks that are roughly as talented as the other 5 at one position.

But yeah, Morey's making everyone look and feel really, really dumb. And doing it with class.

Houston is trying to cut salary. That explains moving Morris. They like TJones and Matt Carroll, so they punted with Morris.

Ah gotcha. I'm sure the ultimate goal is to get another star with Harden with some great pieces in Lin, Asik, and Parsons around them.

One thing worth noting: sign-and-trades much easier to complete with new CBA. Teams with cap room have way less urgency to make moves NOW.

@NBAGuru
Under-the-cap teams like MIL, MIN, ATL, UTA, PHX could stand pat tomorrow, and it's partially because they retain flexibility come July.

‏@NBAGuru
So that could mean a quieter trade deadline, but the flipside is it would mean a CRAZY summer with so many FAs and so much $ out there.

anyone pay this any credence?
