Following potential 2013 draftees

I never got off the bandwagon. He is a member of my dream draft.

I'm starting to see it. Boy does he have nice potential / upside. Burke & WCS would be a pretty good draft for us. WCS can be our next year's "Kanter". I can also see him developing & may be trading him later on if we have too many bigs, for a nice player.

Shabazz is at least going to give you a Paul Pierce-caliber scorer. That's worth a lot. I wonder if his draft stock would be higher if he were playing in a more hyped conference on the east coast.

He should definitely go top 2, imo. He's quite the steal if he slips out of the top 3.

I'm not sure I understand Noel falling from the #1 spot. Scouts have had enough time to see what he can do, and most seemed to think he was the top prize in this draft. When I saw the injury report, it said he was expected to be out 6-8 months. Doesn't that mean he'll be back by the time next season starts? Players seem to recover pretty well from these things in time, even an injury as severe as his, especially someone as young as Noel. So, shouldn't he still be considered the best long term prospect?

Greg Oden?

Greg Oden?

This seems like a slippery slope fallacy.

"Player A suffered a knee injury like player B, therefore he will inevitably have as bad a career as player B."

Guys recover from these injuries all the time. I believe someone on Jazzfanz recently posted an article that showed nowadays guys recover from ACL tears in the 95 percentile range.

But there's still the 5% chance right? With how close prospects are in the draft - that 5% could be the difference between the 1st pick and the 3rd pick, right?

No. Every scout and NBA GM in the league has known 'Bazz since he was a sophomore in HS. His conference has zero bearing whatsoever.

I agree with the first part but I still have a few lingering questions to totally back the second part.

I still don't see him going anywhere but #1. I've had 2 scouts tell me they've never seen a more dominant shot blocking guy at his age.. including Davis. There are no statements like that surrounding anyone else in the draft. I think Noel's intangibles, length, athleticism, motor, and defensive instincts will get him picked #1. The fact that his offense is still a work in progress is what leaves the door open to the discussion.

Greg Oden?

I'm usually nice to you, but that was just dumb.

Haha .. I just called you dumb and look at your rebuttal. LOL

I knew that comment re injury was gonna trigger that response. That's fine, I'm used to it now.

Lindsey on the radio now commenting on the 18th and 19th draft we might be getting. Seems like that played a role in not going ahead with the trade for Bledsoe. I think getting a PG with those picks must be in the discussion somewhere.

I saw Glenn Robinson is on the draft express board at #20. He had a very impressive start to his freshman season at Michigan scoring every which way (like his dad), rebounding, defending well - then he was invisible when Michigan needed him the most against Indiana, Wisconsin and Mich State.

GRIII finally snapped out of it against Penn State this weekend with 21 and 10, getting to the line for 11 free throws. Physically, he is NBA ready - his game only needs one more year to put him in the top 5 or 10.

Here's his dunk-a-thon against Penn State

Context, folks.

^^^

What are you hearing about whether he's coming out this year or next?

(Burke 1st pick and GR III 2nd pick, is my dream draft BTW)
